A Better Way Forward: Spirit-Led Recovery at Thrive
By Steve Wright, Executive Director – Thrive Recovery Center
At Thrive Recovery Center, we believe true healing doesn’t begin with a program—it begins with a Person. His name is Jesus. And while we honor the value of evidence-based practices like the 12 Steps, group therapy, and medication-assisted treatment, we know they are tools, not the source.
God is the source.
We’re not here to throw out tradition. We’re here to add what’s been missing: the divine authority and intimate care of a Savior who still heals, restores, and makes all things new.
Too many recovery plans follow a predictable script:
• Attend your groups.
• Take your meds.
• Go to meetings.
That structure matters—but alone, it often leaves people dry, detached, or going through the motions. The wounds of addiction are more than behavioral. They are deeply spiritual. And you cannot heal the soul with checklists.
At Thrive, we begin where all true transformation begins: in surrender to God.
We believe recovery isn’t just about stopping the wrong thing—it’s about becoming the right person. That requires more than human strength. It takes divine power. We believe in a God who redeems the worst chapters and rewrites the entire story.
Our treatment model blends biblical truth with clinical wisdom. We don’t just ask, “What’s your diagnosis?”—we ask, “What is God trying to restore in your life?” We invite clients to consider not only what they want freedom from, but what they were created for.
Every plan we build is rooted in personal ownership and Holy Spirit guidance.
We use SMART goals, yes—but they’re formed through conversation, reflection, and the client’s own God-given voice. We ask questions like:
• What is God showing you about your pain?
• Where has He already been working in your story?
• What would your life look like fully yielded to Him?
We’re not interested in surface-level sobriety. We’re after soul-level restoration—the kind Jesus offers in John 10:10 when He says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.”
That’s why we incorporate spiritual formation, prayer, biblical counseling, and trauma-informed care grounded in grace. We still value accountability, structure, and process—but we hold them loosely, and we hold Christ tightly.
Because only the Creator can heal what’s been broken by sin, shame, or addiction.
Healing doesn’t come through human willpower. It comes through God’s power. And at Thrive, we proclaim boldly that there is no pit too deep that the love of God can’t reach, no past too dark that the blood of Jesus can’t cover, and no identity too shattered that the Holy Spirit can’t rebuild.
We believe the best treatment plans are not just trauma-informed—they’re Gospel-infused.
We still use the 12 Steps—but we also teach people to take their first step toward the Cross. We honor group work—but we also create space for solitude, confession, and worship. We offer recovery—but we aim for complete redemption.
This is not just about getting clean. This is about being made new.
At Thrive, we see every client as an image-bearer of God—called, loved, and purposed. Our role is to walk beside them as they rediscover that truth, surrender their false sources of comfort, and allow the Lord to lead them into a new creation reality (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The heart of Thrive is not behavior modification. It’s spiritual resurrection.
We’re not interested in making people compliant. We want to see them set free.
We believe healing happens not in cold systems, but in holy relationships—rooted in trust, grace, and the unshakable presence of God.
And that’s the vision of Thrive: not just a recovery center, but a Kingdom outpost where Christ is central, healing is possible, and stories are rewritten for His glory.
