A private Memorial Service for Tylie will be on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cordova, Nebraska. A private Graveside Committal of Ashes will be in the Exeter Cemetery.

A public time of fellowship and meal will be held at the Exeter American Legion beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

Tylie “Tilly” Marie Due was born on January 26th, 2011 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Anthony Due and Jordin Stride.

Words can only capture a small part of who Tylie was. She was soft-hearted, honest, funny, and so deeply loved by the people who knew her.

Tylie had a contagious laugh and a quick wit. She loved to make people laugh and was known for her one-eyebrow side-eye and the look she’d give over the top of her glasses. She could tease you one minute and apologize the next, always making sure you knew she never meant to hurt you.

Tylie loved art, reading, video games, and racing. She was beginning her sophomore year at Southwest High School and was looking forward to culinary and French classes and her first homecoming. She dreamed of racing cars at Eagle Raceway, learning to weld and work on cars, traveling, and someday visiting Japan. She always stood up for others and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.

It was Debra's wish to be cremated. The family will be hosting friends at the Exeter American Legion on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 12-4 pm. There will be a public graveside service in the Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta, Nebraska on Saturday, August 29, 2026. at 11:00 a.m..

Debra Dawn Nichols was born to Charles Keith Barnes and Shirley Ann Novacek on August 14, 1959 in McCook, Nebraska and passed away August 25th 2026 at her home in Exeter, Nebraska at the age of 67. She was the second of 7 children.

Deb lived with parents and her grandmother, Mary Barnes, on farmstead north of Wauneta, Nebraska until her family moved to Imperial, Nebraska in 1968. On the farm, she loved learning to farm and taking care of her animals and siblings. She attended Imperial grade school and graduated from Chase County High School in 1977. While in high school, she continued to take care of her siblings, enjoyed hanging out with friends and worked at Jack’s Place as a waitress. In the summers, she would run a swather, and in the fall and winter she would help haul sugar beets for local farmers.

In 1978, she met Michael A. Nichols and they married on October 4th 1980. They continued to live in Imperial and raised 4 children together: Jennifer, Nicole, Michael, Jr. and Brandy.

A Funeral Service for Sharon will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Tobias, Nebraska.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the funeral service (9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.) on Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Tobias, Nebraska.

Graveside Services will be conducted following the funeral service at the Tobias City Cemetery in rural Tobias, Nebraska.

Memorials are to be directed to the Tobias American Legion or the Zion Lutheran Church.

Sharon L. Meyer went home to be with the Lord on August 22, 2026. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Born on October 17, 1935 near Klemme, Iowa. Sharon was the daughter of Henry and Adna (Church) Ward. She enjoyed growing up on the farm, riding horses and tending to her sheep.

She graduated from Klemme High School in 1953. She attended beauty school in Mason City, Iowa graduating in 1954. She worked at Belmond, Iowa and had her own salon until 1958. In May of that year she married Melvin Meyer at Zion Lutheran Church near Tobias, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Theresa, Tina, and Randall.

She kept busy as a wife and mother sewing, quilting, knitting and being a seamstress for others. She also worked at the Meridian School as a lunch lady and a housekeeper at the Goldenrod Motel in Geneva. Sharon and Melvin farmed near Tobias and later moved into Daykin. Richard “Dick” Keller, a proud Nebraskan, accomplished educator and coach, successful businessman, devoted husband and father, and lifelong sportsman, passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 90.
Dick was born on March 27, 1936, to Ralph and Maxine Keller and was raised on the family farm outside Harvard, Nebraska. He attended Harvard Public School and graduated in 1954. He went on to attend Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and graduated in 1958.
An outstanding athlete, Dick excelled in both football and track and field at Nebraska Wesleyan. His athletic accomplishments were recognized when he was inducted into the Nebraska Wesleyan University Hall of Fame in 1987.

On May 31, 1959, Dick married Arlene “Hoppy” Keller. Together they built a life filled with family, friends and sports. Dick also proudly served in the Air National Guard.

Dick began his career in education as a teacher and coach in Harvard, before moving to California, where he continued his work in education and earned a master's degree from Pepperdine University.
In 1964 Dick became a founding faculty member of Rolling Hills High School in Rolling Hills Estates, California, when the school opened its doors to students that September. He served as an assistant football coach of the Rolling Hills Titans and later became athletic director, a position he held until 1976.

A Graveside Service will be at the Plainview Cemetery in Western, Nebraska, following the Funeral Service.

Public Visitation will be Friday, August 14, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.

Duane Allen Schmidt, 87, of Western, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026 at the Wilber Care Center in Wilber, Nebraska after a 6 year battle with mesothelioma. He was born to Carl and Ruth (Matzke) Schmidt on November 22, 1938, in Western, Nebraska.

Duane graduated from Western High School in 1956. He married Vicki Nickel on May 11, 1958 and to this union, 2 children were born - Lori and Mark.

Duane worked many jobs — farmer, rural mail carrier, school bus driver, service station attendant, truck driver for Canning Truck Service in Fairbury, grain elevator worker, motel clerk at Villa Madrid Motel in Crete, and the Cushman Factory in Lincoln.

William Erik Sharp, 54, of Shickley, Nebraska, formerly of Wilmette, Illinois, passed away August 1, 2026. He was born on April 1, 1972, at Augustana Hospital in Chicago. He was the son of William R. Sharp and Euhla Mae (Hendrickson) Sharp.

Bill grew up in Wilmette, where he attended and graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Merrill Andrew Toothman was born on May 17, 1932, in Big Chimney, West Virginia, to Henry Otto Toothman and Lena Argyle (Rexrode) Toothman. He passed away at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, Nebraska, at the age of 94 years, 2 months, and 10 days.

Merrill attended Elkview High School before joining the United States Army on June 9, 1952, serving in the Korean War. On the way across the Pacific, his ship stopped at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for a while. He spent most of his service in Kokkaido, Japan. On his return across the Pacific, his ship stopped at Whittier, Alaska for a while. Upon returning to Charleston, he worked at several different places, including Coca-Cola Bottling, the Charleston Newspaper, and Trane Air-Conditioning and Heating, from which he retired.
He was married on April 30, 1955, to Reba Mae Teel, a little more than 71 years ago. To this union, two children were born. Dianne Michele, in 1970, and Patricia Lynn, who was born in 1974 and passed away in 1976.

Patty Faye Schake, age 84, of Geneva, Nebraska died July 20, 2026 after a brief illness in her home surrounded by her family.

Pat was born July 24, 1941 on a farm west of Amherst, Nebraska to Raymond and Mary (Harmoney) Rumbeck. She was the youngest of nine siblings in the family. Pat graduated from Amherst High School in 1959 as class Valedictorian, an accomplishment she was very proud of. In 1961, Pat and Arlen Schake were married in Amherst, Nebraska, six years later settling in Geneva, Nebraska. They made their first home in Pender, Nebraska. In 1961, Brad, their first son, was born in Wahoo, Nebraska. Rodney was born in Geneva in 1963. Robin Schake Galusha was born in 1970 and Terri Schake Swenson was born in 1973.
In her early years, Pat enjoyed growing up on the Rumbeck farm with the numerous chores and tasks, which included tending sheep, milking cows, and preparing meals for the large family. As the youngest of nine children, Pat would later recount how she was always the last to eat. The family recipes, which included large pans of homemade cinnamon rolls and runzas, were handed down by her and will always be cherished.

In the early years, Pat and Arlen followed the Biba Construction crews to their job sites in many locations in Nebraska. A Funeral Service for John was held Friday, July 24, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. A Graveside Service with Military Honors performed by the Lincoln American Legion Post 3 and Nebraska Military Honor Guard followed in the Simmons-Saltillo Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Bloom presided over the Services.

Vic Peter was the organist and he accompanied the congregation in the singing of "What A Friend We Have In Jesus," "Amazing Grace," and "How Great Thou Art."

Pallbearers for the Service included Tyler Kirby, Tyler Eisenhauer, Caleb Vonderfecht, Ryan Hoy, Jeff Mathews, Craig Firley, and Chris Grady.

Honorary Pallbearers for the Service included Adolph Firley, Ron Romero, Lee Stubblefield, Calvin Peterson, Kevin Heine, and Cristian Kirby.

John Edward Kirby, Jr. was born at the Bryan Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska on June 22, 1940 to John and Olive (Gillaspie) Kirby. He was the second child in a family of four children. He passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 86 years.

John attended the Seventh Day School for his elementary education and Lincoln Southeast High School. After High School, he served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

His career, which he was very proud of, was working as a service manager for Schaefer’s in Lincoln.
