SCOTUS, the Supreme Court of the United States, ruled on June 25, 2026, that Monsanto/Bayer, the maker of the herbicide Roundup, is not liable for lawsuits claiming that Roundup caused cancer in people that used it.

I have written here many times about how toxic Roundup or glyphosate is to the human body resulting in such things as cancer, immune system and hormone issues. I have practically begged all of you to eat only organic grains to avoid Roundup.

The World Health Organization has dubbed Roundup as a probable carcinogen since 2015. Monsanto has paid out billions, with a b, in settlements for people claiming their product causes cancer. The reason that these claims were successful was the accusation that Monsanto/Bayer failed to warn that Roundup could cause cancer. There are tens of thousands more cases in the pipeline against Monsanto/Bayer. This decision by the Supreme Court effectively wipes out those people’s ability to sue for damages.

Here is the reasoning behind the decision. The EPA, Environmental Protection Agency, labels all products with warnings. Since the EPA states that Roundup does not cause cancer, there cannot, by law, be a label on Roundup stating that it could possibly cause cancer. Without a label saying there is a possible cancer connection, one cannot sue for cancer.

Here’s the rub. If the EPA were to label Roundup with a cancer warning, then a person still could not sue if they got cancer, because they were warned on the label.

Monsanto is getting it both ways. Or rather, getting off the hook, both ways. The people with cancer are left with no recourse as of now.

Monsanto also claims that without its product, Roundup, food supplies will suffer and there will not be enough.

I’ll repeat myself. Please STOP EATING CONVENTIONAL GRAINS. If you eat a non-organic grain, bread, pasta, cereal, crackers, pastries, rice, quinoa and any derivatives grown in the US, you are getting Roundup in your food. Roundup is used to kill weeds that would compete with the crop for nutrients and water from the soil. Roundup is also commonly used to “dry” the crop, so it won’t spoil or rot. Roundup cannot be washed off. If you are feeding your family non-organic grains, breads, etc., you are feeding them Roundup.

Our government obviously does not care to protect our health with this Supreme Court decision, but that doesn’t mean you have to roll over and accept it. Vote with your dollars. Buy only organic grains and derivatives.

Final post on sweating.

Sweating is a necessary function for the body. We do not want to stop it from happening. But, Dr. Duffy, I stink when I sweat! You don’t stink when you sweat. Sweat is odorless. If we get an odor from sweating, it is in the region of the armpits and the groin. Remember on August 24 when I described the apocrine sweat glands that are located here? These sweat glands make a mix of a watery sweat plus an oily sweat. When the armpits and groin get sweaty, the bacteria that live on our skin consume the oils and release a byproduct that smells bad. Our sweat does not stink. It’s the bacteria that makes it stink.

Antiperspirants are designed to stop the function of sweat to avoid the smell. As I have described, it is critical for us to sweat, so we do not want to stop that function.

Deodorants are designed to stop the odor, not stop the sweat, so this is a better option.

Sometimes our sweat smells because a toxin is coming out.

I do not recommend conventional antiperspirants and deodorants due to the bad mojo chemicals contained in them, especially the aluminum that is contained in antiperspirants. Aluminum paralyzes the sweat glands in the armpits, so you don’t sweat, but aluminum is terrible for our health – search my page for aluminum for posts describing how deleterious aluminum is for our health.

Practical ways to control odor:
1. Shower daily.
2. If you can find a natural deodorant, it is ok to use. I carry Stone Deodorants at the clinic. These are aluminum salts, but it is the form of aluminum that is not absorbed by the body. It is used to kill the bacteria that live on the skin that turn the sweat into an odor.
3. Carry extra shirts and alcohol prep pads. If you sweat to the point of seeing it in the armpit, swipe down the armpits with the alcohol to temporarily kill the bacteria and change into a fresh shirt.
4. If you feel your odor may be a toxin that is being excreted and you are my patient, talk to me about it and I can plan a detox to assist you.

For me, I use nothing. I only shower daily and leave it at that. I think it is because my diet is clean and I am not sweating all day where the bacteria have a lot to work with. This is how I can control the odor without needing anything on my skin.

Let the sweat happen. It’s both normal and critical for us to sweat. To stop the normal function of the body is not a good idea.

Everyone sweats. It’s a normal body function and nothing to be embarrassed about or to try and stop. It is a necessary function that our body was given (higher power), or evolved to have as an advantage, or a little of both.

Sweating functions:
1. Cool ourselves when we are overheated. This is the primary reason we sweat. I explained the eccrine sweat glands yesterday. They are everywhere, but especially the hands, feet, and forehead. We all have experience when we are hot and sweaty that it is these areas that can drip with sweat. We often use headbands to collect sweat when we are working outside in the heat or exercising. When we sweat, the heat of our skin makes it evaporate and that cools us down. We need to sweat when it is hot or our body becomes hot, like in the case of a hot flash, the body overheats on its own and use the hot flash to cool the body.
2. It also helps us to detoxify. Sweat is a way that the body can dispose of toxins. This is why saunas are so helpful; saunas make you sweat out the toxins.
3. When we are nervous or anxious, we can sweat. We will sweat where the sympathetic nervous system controls sweat glands (the fight-flight reaction). This will occur around the armpits, hands, feet, and groin. Why, you ask? Why would we evolve to sweat in these areas when we are nervous or anxious? Back in our ancestor’s days, a threat could mean we die. Threat included wild animals, other people, etc. When our brains became aroused that there was a threat, the fight-flight reaction took place to help us fight and survive. The hands and feet sweat because a slightly wet surface gives us better traction to grip something, like a weapon. When our groins sweat, a pheromone is produced that signals to others that a threat is present.

Today, how is sweat made?

We have 2-4 MILLION sweat glands in our skin. Sweating must be an important function to commit that many glands; it’s no wonder we sweat. The glands are split into two types—called eccrine and apocrine glands.

Eccrine glands are the most abundant and are located all over the body, especially the hands, feet, and forehead.

Apocrine glands are in the armpits and groin. The sweat that comes from these glands is a mix of water and oils that can produce an odor when acted upon by bacteria on our skin.

Think about why our bodies evolved these different types of sweat glands and come back tomorrow for more discussion.

HOW TO AVOID GETTING SICK WHILE ON VACATION

I see this all the time – patients go on vacation and they or a family member gets sick while on their trip or when they get home. They all say the same thing – Oh, someone must have had a bug on the plane and spread it to me. Sure, that’s possible, but I am going to ask you to open your mind to another possibility.

When your immune system goes down, you are more susceptible to picking up a bug while you are out and about or on a plane. But here’s the clincher, you don’t even have to be exposed to someone else with a bug. You carry all kinds of bugs in and on your body. It’s called your microbiome. Most of the microbiome are good guys, but there are some bad guys as well. When you are healthy, your immune system keeps the bad guys in check. When your immune system goes down, those bad guys that live in you can take advantage and multiply into an infection. You didn’t have to pick up the bug; the bug already inside you took advantage and made you sick.

What makes your immune system go down and leaves you open to picking up a bug or letting a bug inside your body grow? Stress. Stress can weaken your immune system. Stress comes in many varieties. Stress = mental stress, physical stress, chemical stress, and thermal stress.

Mental stress = worry, anxiety, sadness, etc.
Physical stress = overworking, not getting enough sleep, being in pain, etc.
Chemical stress = alcohol, sugar, refined crappy carbs, ci******es, and caffeine.
Thermal stress = being in too hot or too cold of an environment for a long period of time.

So, you are happily living your life, working, raising your family, running around getting all the errands done, getting the kids here and there, serving your church or community, seeing your friends, enjoying a hobby, etc. There is a lot of activity there and doing too much of this can be a physical stress that can lead to your immune system weakening and you getting sick. But most of the time you are handling this well.

Now, go on vacation. What happens here? You are not sleeping in your own bed, you are staying up later at night, there may be a lot more physical activity associated with wherever your trip takes you, you are drinking alcohol more, eating more sugar (ice cream every night? Sure, why not! I’m on VACATION!), getting too much sun, and on and on and on. These are all STRESSORS.

The stress of things you do while on vacation adds up to a weakened immune system and is it any wonder that people commonly come home with a cold or bronchitis or a gut flu?

I advise my patients that when they are going on vacation, to only add ONE STRESSOR to the vacation. Make your choice and stick with it.

Say the patient chooses to eat sugar on vacation as their stressors. That means they need to go to bed on time, get the same amount of sleep, don’t drink alcohol, keep the physical activity to about what they would do in an average day at home.

Say they choose to do a lot of activities, like skiing all day, or walking 30,000 steps every day at Disney or on hikes in National Parks, etc. That means no sugar or alcohol, getting to sleep on time.

Get the idea? Choose ONE THING and keep to that one stressor and hopefully you will avoid coming home sick.

I’d like to discuss evolution and its effects on modern human physical and psychological health. Evolution does not need to be divisive.
1. One may believe that there is a higher power that made the universe and the earth and all its inhabitants.
2. One may believe there is no higher power.
3. There is a third option as well, that one simply does not know if there is or is not a higher power.
Evolution exists and can be accepted as a fact, no matter which of the three camps I just described that you find yourself in regarding a higher power.

Evolutionary mismatch is a concept that states that traits that worked well for our ancestors no longer worked well for the modern human. Further explanation via examples.

1. Diet. Long ago, food was scarce and hard to consistently have. Foods high in fat and sugar was especially scarce, so we humans evolved a taste for them, so when we came upon them in the wild, we would instinctively want to consume them. Fast forward to 2026 where food is abundant, especially food abundantly rich in fat and sugar, like the plethora of ultraprocessed foods. Our ancestral evolutionary development of a taste for fat and sugar is no longer serving us in this modern time with the overabundance of these foods available to you at the drop of a hat.

2. Our ancestors developed using close knit, face-to-face, human contact. We needed each other for survival, bonding, community, and validation. Today’s digital environment keeps us separated from each other and has been a contributor to the rising cases of anxiety, depression, social isolation, and loneliness.

3. Our ancestors lived with all the bacteria, yeasts, viruses, etc. We humans have evolved with these microorganisms to the point where we are dependent on each other. The microorganisms need us to survive, and we need them to survive. I’ve written about this before, but a reminder, we have more cells of microorganisms in and on our bodies than we have cells of our own bodies. In 2026, we live in a society where sterilizing everything is sought after. We wash our kids’ hands and pacifiers and keep them off the floor for fear that they may pick up a germ. We use hand sanitizer all the time. Our sanitized modern lifestyle is harming us in the long run because we evolved to need these microorganisms for our health and life. Killing them off routinely with sanitizing and antibiotics is wreaking havoc on our immune systems. Mostly this is seen as autoimmune conditions, which are continually increasing in numbers.

Continuation of the seed oil conversation from yesterday.

As a reminder, seed oils are sunflower, safflower, soybean, canola, corn, peanut, palm, grape seed.

Besides bottles of oil containing these seeds oils, where else do we get seed oils? They are ubiquitous! I challenge my patients every day to go home to their pantry and refrigerator and look at the ingredient list of all the packaged products they consume. I am not shocked, but they often are, at how many products they have in their homes contain a seed oil or two.

Packaged foods that often contain seed oil are bread, crackers, cereals, frozen or pre-packaged meals ready to eat, potato chips, French fries, salad dressings, BBQ sauces, rice mixes with sauces, candies, and so on. Check labels before you buy!

If you eat out frequently, you will be getting seed oil. Restaurants use cheaper seed oils to fry. They will be part of salad dressings.

Recommendations:
1. Check all your packaged food labels at home and throw away those that have seed oil.
2. Throw away any bottles of seed oil that you have in your cabinet.
3. Replace with products that list no seed oils. Look for avocado oil, olive oil, or coconut oil as replacements.

Have I yelled about seed oils lately as a reminder to my readers? It’s probably time. We mean well, but we can fall into old habits when we are stressed or busy.

What are seed oils? Sunflower, safflower, soybean, canola, corn, peanut, palm, grape seed. These types of oils were not consumed by our ancestors. It wasn’t until milling and refining factories were developed in the 1930’s that one could economically get enough oil out of the tiny seeds they are derived from. The original seed oils were used as lubricants and only later foisted on humans as a food source.

Seed oils contain a large amount of fat called linoleic acid. We do need a small amount of linoleic acid in our diets daily, about 2 mg. What does linoleic acid do inside our bodies? It is the base molecule that is used in a chemical cascade that ultimately results in inflammatory reactions. For instance, if you turn your ankle, your immune system responds to the injury with swelling to heal the injury and part of the healing uses linoleic acid. This is a necessary part of the healing, but it should only last 6-8 weeks and then be done.

Overconsumption of linoleic acid forces the body to be weighted on the inflammatory side all the time, leading to chronic inflammation. That inflammation is partially what leads to the common diseases that plague humanity today – arthritis pain, cancer, dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, heart attack, and diabetes.

I mentioned that we need about 2 mg a day of linoleic acid. The average human in 2026 gets about 65 mg a day from their diets full of seed oils. Can you see why I holler about not eating seed oils?

Previous studies have indicated that vitamin D supplementation during pregnancy has positive effects on the child’s brain in the form of memory, intelligence, and higher thinking abilities. This recent study puts more fuel to the fire that supplementation produces kids with better functioning brains.

700 mother-child pairs and were split into two groups. During pregnancy, one group received the standard 400 IU per day, and the other group received (what I find humorous labelling) the “high dose” of 2800 IU per day.

When the children were age ten, they underwent MRI and cognitive testing. The results showed that the high dose of vitamin D supplemented pregnant mothers who had children with higher rates of:
-Verbal memory skills
-Visual memory skills
-Ability to transition easily from one activity to another

I understand that the researchers had to distinguish the two doses of the groups referring to them as standard and high. However, 2800 IU of vitamin D is not high for me! My standard dosing for adults runs in the 4,000-5,000 IU range per day. Why? I can do blood tests to establish what a patient’s levels of D are and then institute vitamin D therapy to raise the levels up to the optimal range of 50-80 ng/ml, continuing to monitor via testing until it has been reached. A maintenance dose is determined and tests repeated usually in one year to establish that they are maintaining their vitamin D status in their blood. I’ve been doing this since 1990, so I have a lot of clinical experience with dosing patients correctly.

Those readers that are my patients or have read my posts for a long time know that I think all humans should take vitamin D. I have rarely found patients with adequate levels on blood work. Vitamin D is also on my list of necessary prenatal supplements.
