🎗June is National Cancer Survivors Month 🎗

June is not dedicated to a specific type of cancer but is observed as National Cancer Survivor Month in the United States, highlighting the experiences and achievements of cancer survivors and promoting awareness about survivorship.

Thanks to cancer research, there are currently more than 18.6 million people living with a history of cancer in the United States.

If you don’t have insurance or if your insurance doesn’t pay for cancer screenings, Screening for Life can provide you with the screenings you need, when you need them.

La Red Health Center can connect you to Delaware’s Screening For Life, as well as other can resources and support options.

😎 Summer Safety Tips: Eye Safety 😎

Summertime often means long hours in the sun. Most of us remember to protect our skin by applying sunblock, but don't forget that your eyes need protection as well.

It is important to start wearing proper eye protection at an early age to shield your eyes from years of ultraviolet exposure.

Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun create eye damage that causes cataracts together with macular degeneration and additional eye conditions.

Wearing sunglasses with 100% UV protection when you leave your home can help you protect your eyes. Polarized lenses offer two advantages: they minimize glare while enhancing vision comfort.

Wear sunglasses and limit sun exposure to help protect your eyes this summer ✨

🧠 It's Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Month🧠

National PTSD Awareness Month is observed in June and it ushers in an array of awareness campaigns run for the benefit of PTSD survivors.

Those who continue to experience problems may be diagnosed with PTSD. Anyone can develop PTSD, including children, teens, and adults, who have been through physical or sexual assault, abuse, accident, disaster, war or combat, or other serious events.

In the United States, about 4% of adults currently live with PTSD, and approximately 8% of adolescents ages 13 to 18 are affected.

La Red Health Center can help. Our Behavioral Health Services team is here to provide support in a place you can trust.

Your mental and emotional well-being are just as important as your physical health.
