We filter the world through our emotional and mental states. These states heavily influence how we perceive situations and interactions. If you focus on what is wrong, it is all you will see. At the same time, if you focus on the successes, that is all you will see. We need to see both but cannot focus solely on one at the expense of the other.

May is Mental Health Health Awareness month. My plan is to post something each day this month.

I wanted to start with one of my favorite Star Wars quotes. Chances are, if you have seen in me in the wild you've seen me wearing a t shirt with this quote.

Hope is amazing. It is what keeps us going when things seem the darkest. And that is what makes it vital to healing. Hope helps us conquer fear. It helps us see a better (healthier) tomorrow. It also provides us the strength to make those difficult, and sometimes scary, decisions including the decisions to be vulnerable, reach out for help, and to make changes. This all allows us to heal.

There is always hope. Sometimes we have to look a little harder to find it, but it is always there.
