An unveiling of a Sons of the Revolution plaque in honor of Benjamin Mathews will be May 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm. The Cassadaga Legion will present the color guard and a 21 Gun Salute. All are invited to attend.

The Annual meeting will be Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Gerry Town Hall starting at 7 pm.

During the May 7th meeting, Eileen resigned as President. The new president is Becky Mead. Vice President is Loretta Overturf. All other board members remain as they were.
Becky, as the new president needs everyone's help and support.
The shed roof needs replaced this year. The sign needs repainted. The huge project of tombstone restoration needs to begin. So, anyone that can help in any way with these projects, please contact Becky!!

The cemetery Association needs people to help out with various things and positions. We also need the following new Board members: President, Vice President, Accountant, Secretary, and Trustees. All positions are accomplished by local people who volunteer their time. If you have expierence in running a business, secretarial skills, and or accounting skills, please come and volunteer your time.

You are needed!!

Donations to help pay for the upkeep of the lawn is needed also.

There are new Rules and regulations and new prices for the cemetery this year. All have been approved by the State. If you need a copy of both or either, please ask. Send a self addressed stamped envelope or email to the President, Eileen Overturf.

We are in need of donations to help pay for some tree removal that needs to happen soon. Please send donations. Thanks!

All stones that move or lean are to be fixed, as per the State's requirement. That is why some of the monuments have caution tape on them. We are in the process of finding a repair company who will take on this huge task. How this will be paid for is being determined. If you currently own any of these monuments, you should get them fixed yourself or have them removed. No foundation work is to be done without the cemeteries consent.

I just put Caution tape on some of the Gravestones in the cemetery. I was instructed by the State Cemetery Inspector that if the memorial moves or is leaning it has to have Caution tape on it. We will then have a Memorial Business come and give us a quote to fix the stones. Do not remove the caution tape. They have to remain on the stones until they are fixed. Thanks!

The Cemetery Association Board voted on Jan 4, 2022 to raise Rates. Due to the fact that the contractors increased their rates to Dig for burials and also to put in the foundations. The rates were submitted and approved by the State.

The Cemetery Association met Tuesday, May 3 , 2022 at the Town Hall in Gerry, NY. Recia Myers was reelected as Trustee. The Board was voted back in. Eileen Overturf as President, Becky Mead as Vice President, Tonia Wilson as Secretary, and Eileen Overturf as Treasurer.
Items that were discussed: The Board is looking for quotes to remove the three dead trees and trim the fir tree.
A whole new set of Rules and Regulations were approved by all who were present. They will now be submitted to the State to approve.
It was proposed that we should seek help from the Town of Gerry to see if they could fill in the back portion of the cemetery that has a slope on it. Trustee Barmore will follow through.
The flags to honor the military and fire department deceased members are now going to remain on the graves 365 days. To honor the fact that they never rest while in service!
The sign will be removed this upcoming winter and be repainted.
Last but not least, all board members especially, the Presidency: Pres, Vice, & Secretary, put in a tremendous amount of their own time, energy, and money to keep this cemetery going!
If you see that something needs corrected/fixed, call and ask if you can help! If you are not physically able to help, donate money to help keep the cemetery going. The treasurer report reported that we lost money last year. Thus, donations are needed. The main expense is the upkeep! This is an older cemetery, so it needs your support!
The weather here in western N.Y. has been a wet and cold Spring here. The lawn/caretaker has not been able to work in the cemetery because of the mud! If one tried it only made things worse. He removed all of the branches, sticks and twigs a week or two ago. Today he mowed. Later this week he will refill in the last couple of burials. He was also told to buy top soil and grass seed to reapply the top level on last years burials, where needed.
You also can take responsibility for the cemetery. Meetings are held the first Tuesday in May every year at the Gerry Town building, 7 pm sharp. You can become a board member! Looking for replacements all the time!

The Cemetery Association met Tuesday, May 4 , 2021 at the Town Hall in Gerry, NY. They elected two new Trustees. One for last year's expiring Trustee and one for this year's expiring Trustee. The New Trustees are Randy Barmore and Mark Wilson. The Board was voted back in. Eileen Overturf as President, Becky Mead as Vice President, Tonia Wilson as Secretary, and Eileen Overturf as Treasurer.

The following forms were presented for an update: By-Laws, All Prices, and the Rules and Regulations. All, present at the meeting, decided they wanted to take the forms home to read, since they were such long and updated forms. Everyone present will then send their ayes or nays to the secretary.

The Pres. & Vice Pres. ask the Town Board of Gerry, tonight 5/13/2021, If they are going to help us with the removal of the trees that we asked them about two years ago. The Board stated they have not had the money budgeted for this, plus the Tree Man kept delaying. They are going to check into this again and let us know.
