Here is another article suggesting that the diabetic drug, Metformin may protect the brain against memory loss. In a study of over 1000 people ages 70 - 90, those NOT taking Metformin had a five times greater risk of memory loss/dementia. Metformin helps the body use Insulin more effectively and is inexpensive.

A new protein has been discovered known as "BAM15" which may become useful as a weight loss drug and may also help other conditions such as reducing blood sugar and insulin levels, improving sensitivity of skeletal muscle to the effects of insulin, and reducing fat overall accumulation.
This BAM15 works by inducing the mitochondrial within our cells to burn more energy. Research has shown that mice given BAM15 became resistant to weight gain.
