July Mental Health Minutes:
It’s a hot one this year. ☀️
Did you know that the heat can affect your mental health as well as physical!
Don’t lose your Cool 🤯…
Things that can help:
Stay hydrated- water, lemonade anything with low sugar/ caffeine. It’s surprising how quickly one can dehydrate. Especially on medications like antidepressants and antipsychotics.
Dress in light colors, loose lightweight fabrics. Sounds like “duh” but you would be surprised how many folks wear heavy jeans and sweatshirts in summer.
Keep a fan on and use cool cloth on pulse points. Especially if no AC.
Find shade if outside- take breaks if working- no pressure to “push through”.
Staying cool physically helps keep us less irritated and edgy, so if you think your “ blood is boiling”try some of these tips!
Cause you deserve it!😎

June mental health minutes:
Sometimes doing for others gets us out of our own thoughts. This can be a good thing. Here is a quote from Mother Teresa of Calcutta that demonstrates the point of spreading love in your own community.

May Mental Health Minutes:
🥰Yourself…
Comparing oneself to others can readily precipitate feelings of being “less or better than” and social media can fuel comparitis -my own word…😝.
While it is totally fine and encouraged to celebrate accomplishments in our lives and others, it is also helpful to acknowledge that where we are in life is exactly where we are supposed to be 🤗.
Think about the life lessons and relationships you wouldn’t have had otherwise and celebrate “It’s okay to be Me 💕!”
Cause you’re worth it!

A new report from the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) reveals the highest number of countries persecuting Christians in recorded history, with faith communities facing imprisonment, violence and even death simply for practicing their beliefs.

Nowhere is that violence more lethal than in Nigeria, where USCIRF reports over 80% of religion-based murders in 2024 occurred.

Rebecca Dali, a former captive of Boko Haram, was one of several witnesses to share her violent reality, having now documented thousands of killings by the extremist group.

January mental health minutes:
For many folks January means new beginnings.
While new ways of living are usually hopeful, for those who experience loss it can lead to loneliness and isolation.
When we suffer a loss we are looking at life through a new lens. Things are different-either by choice or circumstance and we through the process of Grief.
I like to call this “Sacred time”, when profound emotions and time seems to stand still, where our mind and spirit try to make sense of what is happening.
It is important to treat ourselves gently, take the time we need to become who we will be going forward.
Kind words from others who share this time are invaluable but we all go through the process of denial, anger, bargaining , depression and acceptance although not in that order. “Feeling the feels” of loss is how we honor relationships we have had and the love we shared with one another.
No matter what our loss is, we deserve to honor this “sacred time” and we are worth it. 💕
