I love this list.

Your body can't tell the difference between real danger and a phone buzzing in your pocket. Both make your body go on alert.

Every scroll, every ping, every notification pulls your attention away. Over time, this makes it harder to focus, harder to relax, and harder to feel calm.

But your body knows how to calm down too.

A quiet morning. A walk with no headphones. A real conversation. A few minutes of just sitting still. These small things help your body relax and heal.

Health isn't only about food. It's also about what you see, hear, and think every day.

Sometimes the best medicine isn't a pill. It's simply giving your mind and body a break.

Which one will you try this week? 👇

Let's talk about something most weight-loss conversations get wrong: obesity isn't about willpower.

Worldwide, over 1 billion people live with obesity today. Nearly half of all U.S. adults meet the clinical threshold, and so do 1 in 5 U.S. children and teens (ages 2–19). These aren't numbers about laziness. They're numbers about hormones, gut health, chronic inflammation, sleep, and stress, factors that shape how our bodies store and burn energy long before diet or exercise even enter the picture.

The real risk isn't the number on the scale. It's what obesity does quietly in the background: raising the odds of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and certain cancers, starting earlier in life than most people realize.

Here's the part worth sitting with: when the root cause gets addressed instead of just the symptom, this is a condition that responds to treatment, at any age. That's where real, lasting change starts.

Ever wonder why some people swear by fish oil while others say "it never did anything for me"?

Turns out, omega-3 works best under the right conditions, and small everyday habits make a bigger difference than most people realize.

Here's what actually helps:

- Cut back on fried food and vegetable oils. They compete with omega-3 in your body, so less of them means your omega-3 has more room to actually work.

- Eat fatty fish 2-3 times a week. Real food sources absorb differently than supplements alone, and your body benefits from both.

- Test, don't guess your dose. Everyone processes omega-3 differently. A simple test tells you exactly where you stand, instead of hoping the bottle's dose is right for you.

Small shifts. Real results.

Curious about your own numbers? Comment "OMEGA" and we'll walk you through getting tested.

Last time, we covered why you can't feel your omega-3 levels. Here's the next piece of the puzzle.

Your body doesn't process omega-3 in isolation. There's another fat, omega-6, sitting in most vegetable oils, fried foods, and packaged snacks, and it's fighting for the exact same job in your cells.

The imbalance is bigger than most people realize. We evolved eating these two fats in close to equal amounts. Today, the average diet runs at roughly 15 times more omega-6 than omega-3. That gap alone can undercut a supplement that should otherwise be working just fine.

This is part of why dosage alone isn't the full story. What's competing against your omega-3 matters just as much as how much you're taking.

"Kids who come in on medications, can 100% of them get off?"

That's the question Dr. Kumar asked Dr. Todd Born on Dr Kumar Discovery. The answer might surprise you, and it starts with something as simple as artificial flavorings and sweeteners.

As always, talk to your own doctor before making any changes to a child's medication.

Here's something most of our patients are surprised to learn.

Feeling "fine" doesn't mean your omega-3 levels are actually where they should be.

We see this constantly. People who eat reasonably well, some who even take a supplement, and yet when we test their actual blood levels, the numbers tell a completely different story than expected.

The truth is, there's no symptom checklist for this. No, "you'll feel tired if you're low." It's silent, which is exactly why testing matters more than assuming.

We're starting a short series this week covering the hidden factors that affect your omega-3 levels, even if you think you're already doing everything right. Coming up: the ratio problem, why absorption isn't universal, why dosing isn't one-size-fits-all, and how it all comes together.

Ever feel like your brain just... can't settle anymore?

Dr. Todd Born sat down with The Dr Kumar DiscoveryThe Dr Kumar Discovery for a conversation that goes way past the usual "put your phone down" advice. This one gets into why our brains are struggling in ways most people don't talk about, and why the usual fixes aren't actually fixing anything.

If you've ever felt restless, wired, or just "off" without knowing why, this conversation might explain more than you expect.

Ever been told you're "allergic" to something, but the reaction doesn't quite match what you'd expect from an allergy?

There's a real difference between a food allergy, an intolerance, and a sensitivity, and most people (including a lot of clinicians) use the words interchangeably.

Intolerance = your digestive system struggling with something, no immune system involved. No symptoms outside the gastrointestinal tract.
Sensitivity = where many people fall into, and it may or may not be mediated by the immune system.
Allergy = your immune system reacting, sometimes right away, sometimes hours later.

Real food allergies only affect about 2.5% of people. So there's a good chance what's being called an "allergy" is actually something else, and that changes how it should be assessed and treated.

I hear this a lot: "I got tested, I cut everything on the list... and I still don't feel right."

It's one of the most common things patients tell me. Instead of shrinking, the list grows. More foods added, more restrictions, yet the symptoms never fully go away.

That's usually a sign the treatment addressed the surface, not the source.

Has this happened to you or someone you know?
An "avoid" list that keeps growing but never actually fixes the problem.

Most parents have no idea artificial food dyes could be doing THIS to their kids' behavior. 😳

Dr. Todd Born unpacks a study that found artificial coloring worsened symptoms in kids with ADHD, and even triggered ADHD-like symptoms in kids who had NONE before.
