Your brain can learn how to feel calm - that's the foundation of neurofeedback.

Through gentle training, your brain begins to recognize and return to more regulated states.

When your nervous system has been 'on' for too long, it just needs support learning a different pattern.

It's not about forcing it... it's about helping your system find its way back.

Our Neurofeedback clinicians recently attended the Practical Neurofeedback Workshop in Cape Canaveral, FL. It was an incredible opportunity for advanced, hands-on training in the BrainMaster neurofeedback system we use with clients every day at NeuroWave.

The workshop was led by Tom Collura, founder of , alongside renowned neurofeedback expert Steve Warner, giving our team the chance to learn directly from leaders in the field.

From new techniques to exciting developments in neurofeedback, our team came back with fresh knowledge, sharpened skills, and even more tools to support the clients we work with here at NeuroWave!

We are so proud of our clinicians for their dedication to ongoing education and care. Way to go, team!

Healing from trauma doesnโ€™t mean erasing the past โ€” it means helping the nervous system understand that the danger is no longer happening now.

This short video offers a powerful reminder of how trauma lives in the body and why approaches like EMDR focus on safety, regulation, and integration rather than โ€œjust talking it out.โ€

Through November and December, we will be partnering up with the Puyallup Food Bank to host a food drive!

Each season is full of its own unique difficulties. It's during these times that we're reminded of the importance of community and the role we each play within it. Our compassion can make a tangible difference. So, this season we're asking for your help to leave a lasting impact.

Here's how you can help:

We will have donation boxes at our Puyallup and Gig Harbor locations. We're accepting non-perishable goods, such as tomato products, soups, mac & cheese, canned stews, side dishes, peanut butter foods, canned vegetables and fruit, canned beans, cold cereal, rice, pasta, jam, and sugar.

We're also asking for donations of baby diapers, baby formula, baby food, toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies!
All contributions will go toward helping those in the Puyallup area. Let's work together to give back to our community!! ๐Ÿค—๐ŸคŸ

๐ŸŽ‰ Exciting Research Update: Our Work Featured in New Study on Neuroinflammation!

I am thrilled to share that the research that has been done with our client data around Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) โ€” especially in the context of motor vehicle crashes โ€” has contributed to a newly published study on the diagnostic potential of EEG in identifying neuroinflammation.

๐Ÿ” What the Study Found

This study explored how spindling excessive beta (SEB) activity in EEG readings can serve as a non-invasive biomarker for neuroinflammation. Here are the key takeaways:

โ€ข Strong Link Between TBI & SEB: SEB prevalence was significantly higher in individuals with TBI (78.2%) compared to non-TBI patients (31.5%), with a distinct temporal lobe distribution in TBI cases โ€” exactly what weโ€™ve been observing in our motor vehicle crash population.

โ€ข Clinical Relevance: SEB is now seen not just as an EEG โ€œpatternโ€ but as a validated indicator of neuroinflammatory activity. This has the potential to transform how we screen, diagnose, and treat patients suffering from post-TBI symptoms.

โ€ข Treatment Implications: Interventions like guanfacine + NAC, photobiomodulation, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy were shown to reduce SEB activity โ€” offering new hope for targeted treatment strategies.

โ€ข High Accuracy: Statistical modeling achieved 85% classification accuracy in distinguishing TBI from non-TBI patients, with 87% sensitivity โ€” meaning this approach is reliable enough to guide real clinical decisions.

๐Ÿง  Why This Matters for TouchPoint

Our ongoing work with neurofeedback, qEEG analysis, and integrative treatment planning has put us ahead of the curve. This study validates what weโ€™ve been seeing clinically: Many post-MVA patients present with temporal SEB patterns. Addressing neuroinflammation directly improves outcomes, especially when combined with trauma-focused therapy. This is a big step toward personalized, precision-based care for individuals recovering from brain injury and trauma!

As a practice that's dedicated to brain healing and performance, we just had to share this amazing educational comic about traumatic brain injuries (TBI) by the University of Washington Traumatic Brain Injury Center: "Understanding TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) InfoComic" ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿซข๐Ÿ™Œ

These InfoComics are designed to educate readers on common situations and related research through storytelling. They make complex health topics easier to understand and remember by engaging more areas of the brain!

This comic walks you through what a TBI is, the recovery process, emotional and behavioral changes, and more. It's such an important topic that's often misunderstood and underdiscussed, even though millions are affected every year.

At TouchPoint Counseling and Neuro-Wave, we're passionate about raising awareness and supporting recovery from brain injuries through non-invasive, brain-based solutions.๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿ‘‰Check it out and share to help spread awareness and understanding around TBIs!
