Ask someone what better looks like and you will not get a headline.
You will get a whole movie start to finish, a crossword done, reading again, and hugging the kids. None of it sounds like much out loud. Ask twice.

You got to the end of today and could not name one thing you did.
Nothing about it felt like progress, so it went in the same pile as yesterday.
Got out of bed. Stepped outside. Moved around. Folded the laundry.

Today had four of them in it. If the days have been running together like this for months, that is the part worth telling a psychiatrist about.

You have started a text to someone three times and deleted it every time.

Everything you write sounds either too heavy for a text or too light for what you are actually worried about.

The words are on the next slide.

They are ordinary on purpose, and if that person answers for real, Serenity is there for whatever comes after.

Answering questions about your worst few months is not easy, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
The part you are dreading is going blank when someone asks. You do not have to have it worded before you see a psychiatrist, because the appointment is mostly someone asking questions until the vague version gets specific. Bring what you have.

When someone asks what is wrong, you cannot point to anything specific.
So you say tired, or busy, and the conversation moves on. A psychiatrist starts from whatever you can describe, and the first appointment is mostly questions that are easier to answer than the one you keep getting asked.

You are waiting for a day when you wake up and feel different.

The change shows up smaller than that, and earlier.
You answer a text you left sitting for three days, and you will not think of it as anything at the time.

It still counts.

September is Su***de Prevention Month, and all it really takes is saying something to the person you have been thinking about.

You do not need a reason or an opening. Ask how they are actually doing.
