Tiki-Taka and Healthcare ⚽🏥

Spain just won the World Cup — 4,000+ passes, 91% accuracy, 1 goal conceded, 38 games unbeaten.

No superstar carried them. The system did. They call it tiki-taka.

Healthcare works the same way.

Every patient handoff is a pass: doctor → specialist → surgeon → nurse → pharmacist. Clean passes keep patients safe. Dropped passes cause harm — communication failures are the #1 cause of preventable medical errors.

Trust your team. Pass precisely. Keep the patient at the center.

We don’t just win matches. We save lives. 🙌

What a game!

For Cancer Survivors: What You Eat After Treatment Can Determine Whether You Stay in Remission

Nobody told you this when you rang the bell. 🔔

You finished chemo. You finished radiation. You did everything right.

And then you went home — and nobody said a word about what to put on your plate.

That silence is costing lives.

A landmark 2026 study tracked 800+ cancer survivors for 15 years. The results stopped researchers in their tracks:

🔴 57% higher cancer-specific death rate
🔴 48% higher all-cause mortality

…in survivors who ate the most ultra-processed foods.

This wasn’t about eating too much. It wasn’t about weight.

It was the food itself — the industrial additives, emulsifiers, and preservatives that quietly destroy your gut microbiome and keep your body locked in chronic inflammation long after treatment ends.

Post-treatment bodies are already vulnerable. This is fuel on the fire.

Here’s what the evidence says to do instead:

❌ Cut back on: chips, soda, packaged cookies, deli meats, frozen ready-meals, sweetened cereals
✅ Prioritize: vegetables, fresh fruit, whole grains, legumes, nuts, grilled fish, home-cooked meals

One swap. That’s all it takes to start.

If you’re a survivor — or you love one — ask your oncology team about a survivorship nutrition plan. You deserve that conversation.

🔬 AI can now spot pancreatic cancer 16 months before doctors can.

A breakthrough AI model from the Mayo Clinic is changing the game for one of the hardest-to-detect cancers.

Here is what the latest data shows 👇

🤖 REDMOD AI analyzes routine CT scans for invisible tissue changes
⏱️ Spots cancer an average of 16 months before a clinical diagnosis
📈 73% detection rate of pre-diagnostic cancers
👀 2x to 3x more accurate than specialists looking at the exact same scans
🏥 Could make early, curable intervention possible for high-risk patients

The future of cancer diagnostics is here, and it’s powered by artificial intelligence.

🏃 Did you know that exercise can cut cancer recurrence by 28%?

This isn't a wellness trend — it's hard science from one of the most important cancer trials of the decade.

The CHALLENGE Trial, published in the New England Journal of Medicine and presented at ASCO 2025, followed 889 Stage II/III colon cancer patients for 8 years after surgery and chemotherapy. Half were enrolled in a structured exercise program; the other half received standard health education.

The results were striking:

🟠 28% lower risk of colon cancer coming back
🔵 37% lower risk of death from any cause
✅ 90% overall survival at 8 years in the exercise group (vs. 83%)
✅ 80% disease-free survival at 5 years (vs. 74%)

The exercise prescription? Just 150 minutes per week of moderate activity — brisk walking, cycling, or swimming. That's about 20 minutes a day.

The National Cancer Institute also reports that even light daily movement — a walk around the block, gentle yoga, stretching — reduces cancer risk by up to 26%.

If you or someone you love is going through cancer treatment or recovery, talk to your care team about adding a structured movement plan. It may be one of the most powerful tools in your arsenal.

Share this with someone who needs to hear it today. 💙

I was honored to join Randy and Tim in a panel discussion to reflect on Randy’s incredible cancer journey, which is well documented in his book “My Dance with Cancer.” It’s one of the powerful books I’ve ever read! It’s a story of hope, resilience and possibilities. Randy’s book provides great insight into his amazing and inspiring life story. At the same time, it’s a validation of a culture of excellence we have built at our clinics at HonorHealth and Arizona Center for Cancer Care. Amazing things can happen when medicine meets mindset.
Big thanks to Bayer for making this happen!
