Does your daughter seem like two different people?

To her teachers and friends, she’s the quiet dreamer or the high-achieving perfectionist. But at home, the "storm" hits. The meltdowns over itchy tags, the "analysis paralysis" over simple chores, and the intense sensitivity to any correction.

This is the reality of High-Masking ADHD. These girls spend all day "masking" their symptoms to fit in, and by the time they get home to their "safe people," their mental battery is at 0%.

At Knight Psychological Institute, we want to help parents move from frustration to connection. Swipe through this guide to see the signs and learn how to implement a "Low-Demand Landing" to help her recharge.

Share this with a parent who needs to hear that they aren't "failing"—they're just learning a different language.

Why "Good Behavior" at school can sometimes hide a deeper struggle.

At Knight Psychological Institute, we often hear from parents who are frustrated because teachers report their daughter is a "model student," yet evenings at home are filled with sensory overload and emotional exhaustion.

This discrepancy is often due to Social Mimicry. Girls are frequently socialized to be people-pleasers, which can lead them to mask their autistic traits more effectively than boys. While it helps them "blend in," it leads to:
• Extreme mental fatigue
• Increased anxiety
• Loss of self-identity
• Burnout

We specialize in seeing past the mask. Understanding why the behavior happens is the first step toward helping her thrive—not just survive.

Does this resonate with your family’s experience? Share this post to help spread awareness that autism doesn't always "look" like the stereotypes.

To the parent who just sat through a difficult IEP meeting or opened a school evaluation that felt like a "list of deficits": We see you.

It’s easy to feel discouraged when a report focuses solely on inability and failure to regulate. But a label is not a limit. It’s simply a starting point.

At Knight Psychological Institute, we specialize in identifying the adaptive strengths that school reports often miss. We believe every child’s brain is wired differently, and our goal is to give you the "User Manual" you need to support them with confidence.

What do I even need to bring?" 🧐

This is one of the most common questions we get from parents preparing for a neurodevelopmental evaluation.

The "Paper Trail" (previous IEPs, report cards, and specialist notes) is often the hardest part to gather, but it’s also the most powerful tool we have. It helps us see the full picture of your child's journey so we can "hit the ground running" from day one. šŸƒ

We’ve broken down exactly what you need to gather in these slides. Take a breath—you’ve got this, and we’re here to help you navigate the rest.

What is the one thing you wish someone had told you before your first school or medical consultation? Let’s share some general tips for the community below! šŸ‘‡

Did you know you have the right to a second opinion? šŸ«āš–ļø

Navigating the special education system can feel like learning a second language. One of the most powerful tools in a parent's toolkit is the IEE (Independent Educational Evaluation).

At Knight Psychological Institute, we provide "Clinical Weight." Our evaluations are robust, evidence-based roadmaps designed to help schools and parents build more effective programs together. We don't just provide scores; we provide a path forward.

Your child’s potential deserves a complete understanding. Visit our website to learn how our IEE services provide the clinical clarity the whole IEP team needs. I’ve dropped the direct link to our IEE services in the first comment below! šŸ‘‡

Stop managing. Start empowering. šŸ’”

Most parents think a psychological evaluation is just for school services or IEPs. While that’s part of it, the real value is much deeper. It’s the "User Manual" for your child’s unique wiring that you never received at the hospital.

We break down our 3-step process for turning mystery into a roadmap:
1ļøāƒ£ Honoring Your Story (The Consultation)
2ļøāƒ£ Seeing the Wiring (The Testing)
3ļøāƒ£ Your Personalized Manual (The Feedback)

SAVE this post for the next time you feel like you’re hitting a wall with your child’s behavior. There is a way through the mystery. šŸ—ļø

The most successful IEP meetings happen when everyone is speaking the same language. šŸ¤

For parents, an IEP or 504 meeting is deeply personal. For schools, it’s a balance of complex educational frameworks. Advocacy fatigue often sets in when these two worlds struggle to align—not because of a lack of care, but because of a lack of shared clarity.

At Knight Psychological Institute, we believe the best outcomes happen through collaboration.

Our private evaluations provide the clinical "Why" that helps bridge the gap between a child's unique needs and classroom support. By providing objective data, we create a common language for the entire team, ensuring everyone moves forward with a shared vision and total confidence.

How to prepare for your next team meeting:

Anchor in Data: Use private evaluations to provide a clear, objective picture.

Focus the Lens: Identify your top 3 "Big Wins" to keep the team focused on what matters most.

Invite Support: An ally can help take notes so you can stay fully present in the discussion.

We are here to help you build the bridge to your child’s success. Visit us at www.knightinstitute.com to learn more about our evaluations services.

Does your child "mask" at school but have meltdowns the moment they get home? šŸ šŸ“‰

This is one of the biggest signs that a school evaluation might be missing a piece of the puzzle. While schools do an incredible job of assessing educational impact, they often don't see the internal toll or the "whole child" outside of the 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM window.

A private evaluation provides:
āœ… Formal medical diagnoses (ADHD, ASD, etc.)
āœ… Recommendations for insurance-based therapies (OT, Speech, ABA)
āœ… A deeper look at cognitive and emotional development across ALL environments.

Knowledge is power. If you feel like the "full picture" is missing, it might be time for a private evaluation.

"I’ve asked you three times..."

If you find yourself repeating instructions until you’re frustrated, this is for you. ā¤ļø

At Knight Psychological Institute, we often see parents who are exhausted by what looks like defiance. However, through the lens of neurodiversity, we see a brain that is simply "stalling."

When a child struggles with Executive Functioning, a task like brushing teeth isn’t one step—it’s fifteen. When the mental load gets too heavy, the brain shuts down to protect itself. This is Task Paralysis, not laziness.

We’ve put together a guide to help you "shrink the mountain" and build bridges for your child during difficult transitions.

Does this "Air Traffic Control" metaphor resonate with your family's experience? Feel free to share this with a friend who might need a little extra grace and understanding today.
