🚨 Did your doctor really miss something… or did Instagram just scare you?

Fertility advice online can be helpful — but sometimes it crosses the line from education into fear-mongering.

You’ve probably seen posts that say things like:

“Your doctor said everything was normal, but they never really looked.”
“If you didn’t do this test, your baby could have a genetic problem.”
“One failed transfer means something was missed.”
“Low AMH means you need IVF immediately.”

Here’s the problem: many of these statements contain a small piece of truth — but without context, they can create unnecessary fear, guilt, and panic.

In this episode of Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday, Dr. Mark Amols breaks down how to tell the difference between real fertility education and fear-based marketing. We talk about PGT-A, genetic carrier screening, AMH, failed embryo transfers, endometriosis, fibroids, DNA fragmentation, and why more testing does not always mean better care.

The goal is simple: help patients ask better questions without being scared into unnecessary testing or treatment.

Because in fertility, fear is easy to sell — but nuance is usually where the truth lives.

🚨 PCOS just changed its name.

But did anything actually change?

The new name is **PMOS** — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.

Sounds official. Sounds important. Sounds like progress.

But here’s the problem…

Patients with PCOS have been told for years that it’s about cysts, fertility, irregular periods, or weight.

That was never the whole story.

PCOS was always tied to insulin resistance, metabolic health, hormone imbalance, diabetes risk, androgen symptoms, ovulation problems, and long-term health.

So yes — PMOS is a better name.

But the real question is:

👉 Will doctors finally treat the whole condition?

In this episode, I break down the name change, why PCOS was always a misleading term, and whether PMOS is a true shift in care or just a medical rebrand with a better acronym.

Low AMH can feel scary — but it does not automatically mean you can’t get pregnant.

AMH is one of the most misunderstood fertility blood tests. Many patients think it tells them whether they are fertile, whether their eggs are good, or whether pregnancy is possible.

But that’s not what AMH really tells us.

AMH is mainly a marker of ovarian reserve — meaning it helps predict how many eggs your ovaries may produce during stimulation, especially with IVF.

It does not directly tell us:
✅ Whether you can get pregnant naturally
✅ Whether your eggs are genetically normal
✅ Whether the next egg you ovulate can become a baby
✅ Whether you are “infertile”

In this episode of Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday, Dr. Mark Amols breaks down what AMH really means, why low AMH doesn’t mean no baby, and why AMH is a tool — not a verdict.

Most people think weight-related fertility issues are mainly on the female side.

But newer research suggests male health matters too.

In this week’s episode of Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday, I break down a study showing that male obesity was associated with delayed early embryo development and a higher miscarriage risk, even though fertilization, blastocyst development, implantation, and clinical pregnancy rates looked fairly similar across groups. That’s what makes this so important: sometimes the usual headline numbers do not tell the whole story.

We also talk about why a “normal” semen analysis may not capture everything, why ICSI does not magically erase deeper s***m biology issues, and why fertility needs to be approached as a couple’s issue, not just a female issue.

What surprised you most: that fertilization looked similar, or that miscarriage risk was still higher?

This week’s fertility fight:

🥊 In one corner: IVF
Medications. Labs. Embryologists. Microscopes. Embryo testing.

🥊 In the other corner: Nature
Millions of years of s***m selection, egg selection, tubal timing, uterine signaling, and hidden biology.

Who wins?

The honest answer: it depends.

IVF can do things nature cannot.
But nature does things IVF still cannot perfectly copy.

🚨 New episode of *Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday* is out now!

**Euploid, But Not Equal: Why “Perfect” Embryos Have Different Odds**

If two embryos are both genetically normal…
Both graded AA…
And even tested by the same genetics company…

Why can they still have completely different chances of making a baby? 🤔

In this episode, I break down:
✅ Why “euploid” does **not** mean all embryos are equal
✅ Why embryo grades like AA are helpful — but limited
✅ Why one IVF lab may get better results than another
✅ Why the lab, biopsy, freezing, thawing, and transfer process all matter

This is one of the biggest misunderstandings in IVF, and if you’ve ever wondered why one embryo works and another doesn’t, this episode is for you.

Have you ever walked into a fertility clinic thinking your top-tier insurance had you covered, only to be handed a $20,000 out-of-pocket bill for IVF?

In the newest episode of Taco 'Bout Fertility Tuesday, we are pulling back the curtain on the confusing world of reproductive medicine insurance. If you've been hit with a massive surprise bill, it might be due to one of two major illusions in healthcare:

The ERISA Loophole: If you work for a mid-to-large company, your plan might be self-funded. Because of a federal law called ERISA, these corporate plans are completely exempt from state IVF mandates, meaning your employer can legally choose to exclude fertility care.

The Out-of-Network Lab Trap: Even if your doctor is in-network, the clinic's embryology lab might be structured as a separate, out-of-network entity. Because the lab handles the most expensive parts of the process, you could cross an invisible financial border just walking down the hall, leaving you to pay those massive fees yourself.

We also break down the newly reintroduced HOPE Act, which aims to close this federal corporate loophole. Most importantly, I share the 3 specific questions you absolutely MUST ask your financial coordinator before starting treatment so you don't get caught in the lab trap.

Don't get burned by hidden bills. Arm yourself with the right questions so you can focus on what really matters: building your family.

Can you actually choose whether you have a boy or a girl? 🤔👶

People have been trying to influence a baby’s s*x for thousands of years — with timing ⏰, foods 🍍, positions ❤️, and plenty of myths that just won’t die.

In this week’s episode of Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday 🌮, I break down:

✨ what does not work
🧬 the real science behind X and Y s***m
🔬 why s***m sorting has never really delivered
👶 how IVF with PGT-A can determine s*x with high accuracy
⚖️ the ethical debate around “family balancing”
🌍 why some countries allow s*x selection while others ban it

If you’ve ever wondered what’s fact, what’s fiction, and what modern fertility treatment can actually do, this episode is for you.

Frustrated by the "unexplained infertility" label? 😩

At 38, if you've been trying to conceive for a year and every test comes back "normal," it's easy to feel stuck in one of the most frustrating categories in fertility. But here is the truth: unexplained infertility is just a label, not a diagnosis. It basically means we didn't find the problem with the tests we ran.

On this week's episode of Taco bout Fertility Tuesday 🌮, we skip the motivational posters and dive into a real, step-by-step game plan. We cover:

* Why standard tests miss the biggest invisible factor: your egg quality 🥚.

* Why up to 60% of eggs at age 38 are typically abnormal 📉.

* The essential hidden factors to check, from uterine polyps via a sono histogram to s***m DNA fragmentation 🔬.

* The distinct treatment paths you can take, whether you want the fastest route to pregnancy with IVF or a more gradual approach 🛣️.

Stop letting hope be your only strategy. Use this framework to have a smarter conversation with your doctor 🗣️🩺!

What if your body could replace a $100,000 IVF lab?

There’s a treatment called IVC — intravaginal culture — where embryos grow inside a small device we call the “Baby Pod.”

It’s not IUI.
It’s not IVF.
It’s the middle ground.

✔️ Higher success rates than IUI
✔️ Lower cost than IVF
❌ Not a replacement for IVF

But here’s the important part: it’s not for everyone.

In this week’s Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday episode, I break down who should consider it, who shouldn’t, and why marketing it as IVF is misleading.
