Graveside services for Deavrah Turner of Gilmer, Texas, will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 17, 2026, at New Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Friday at McWhorter Funeral Home.

Deavrah Marie Chandler Turner passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, in Longview, Texas.

She dedicated her life to God at an early age.

Deavrah was born on August 29, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, to parents John Chandler and Cliftine M. Banks. She later became a resident of St. Louis, Missouri, where she completed her schooling while working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a manager. After leaving Southwestern Bell, she became a successful realtor and continued in that profession until her health changed.

While in St. Louis, she met and married Gene Elwyn Turner on June 24, 2000. They later moved to Gene’s hometown of Gilmer, Texas, for the next 20 years until his passing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Turner; her parents; and her brother, John C. “Buck” Chandler.

Deavrah will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Donnett Anderson; siblings, Jeanne L. Hice (Charles), Chrystal D. Levine (Chris), and Michael B. Chandler (Noreen); grandchildren, Shanaurie Carson Chandler, Denisha Chandler Lee (Brandon), Joshua Carson Chandler; and one great-grandson, Michael Wright Jr.

Dominic J. Sanfilippo was born on March 25, 1962, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Dominic T. Sanfilippo and Florence Maggiore Sanfilippo, and passed from this life on October 8, 2026, in Pittsburg, Texas.

Dominic married Trish Crawford on February 16, 2008, in Longview, Texas. He proudly received a bachelor's degree in business. Dominic worked at Pepsi Cola for 35 years before retiring. He was an avid Packers Fan, loved cruises, homemade pastries, and especially family time.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Trish Sanfilippo; children, Dominic Sanfilippo, Emily Sanfilippo, Step children; Cody Moore (Kaylie), and Braydon Shaw, Claudia Barnhill (Reece), and Sheyenne Cushion; siblings, Al Sanfilippo (Heidi), Tony Hudson (Coley), Terri Coma, and Anthony Sanfilippo (Angie); sister-in-law, Paula Denard (Karl Chapman); brother-in-law, Bob Albrecht; grandchildren, Gracie, Dalen, Nicholas, Walker, Denver, Audrey, Jocelynn, and C. J.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Albrecht; brother-in-law, Tony Coma; sister-in-law, Angela Bobo; and his step-grandson, Cameron Barnhill.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 25, 2026, at McWhorter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm before the service.

Graveside services for Ollie Joyce Argabright-Rosas, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Billington Cemetery, in Limestone County, Texas, with Bro. Jed Whitaker officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, at McWhorter Funeral Home.

Joyce was born on August 4, 1941, in Mt. Calm, Texas, to Bob and Nellie Weempe, and passed from this life on October 6, 2026, at Hawkins Creek Assisted Living in Longview, Texas.

Joyce lived in Watt and graduated from Axtell High School in 1959, and she worked on the family dairy farm. On August 9, 1958, she married Glenn Argabright, and they had two children, Glenice and Randall. After her children started school, Joyce took classes at Texas State Technical Institute, where she earned a degree in Computer Science. Joyce then worked in Computer Science for TSTI for 30 years before retiring.

Joyce was an involved mother, serving in PTA, Axtell Band Boosters, Axtell Little League, Axtell Booster Club, Blue Bird Sponsor, and coached girls’ softball.

In December of 1991, Joyce married John Rosas. Together they started a business called Sunnydale Bird Mart. They raised and sold many breeds of birds such as parrots, cockatiels, parakeets, quail, chickens, and more. After John passed away, Joyce continued to raise birds.

In May of 2020, Joyce moved to Longview to live in an assisted living facility to be near her daughter. Joyce enjoyed meeting and making new friends....

Graveside services for Kevin William McCardell, 70, of Gilmer, Texas, will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 12, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, at McWhorter Funeral Home before the service.

Kevin was born July 7, 1956, in Milwaukee, WI, to Keith McCardell and Lois Hofert McCardell, and passed from this life on October 4, 2026, in Longview, Texas.

Kevin married Karen McDonald in Las Vegas, NV, in 1995. He worked for 25 years as a patrolman in Mesquite and Dallas, Texas, before retiring. Kevin was a lover of the outdoors, finding enjoyment in fishing, guns, and hot rods. Kevin was also a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers as well as a Dallas Stars fan.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen McCardell; children, Christopher McCardell and Sabrina McCardell; brother, Terrill McCardell; grandchildren, Ashley McCardell, Julianna McCardell, Brianna McCardell; and a great-grandchild, Jesse Carey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Lois, and a brother, Scott McCardell.

Funeral services for George East, 57, of Gilmer, Texas, will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, October 5, 2026, at McWhorter Funeral Home, with David Cotham, Joseph Chase, and Eric King officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, on Sunday at the funeral home.

George was born on September 9, 1969, in Austin, Texas, to James Melvin and Karen Guest East, and passed from this life on September 30, 2026.

George’s early years were spent on multiple Air Force bases, including Eglin in Florida, Lackland in San Antonio, and Barksdale in Louisiana. At the age of 10, his father retired from his military service and moved the family back to Sand Hill, where George spent the rest of his childhood and early adult years. George had an infinite number of stories about the many adventures he, his brother Jeff, his extended family, and his friends had growing up in the community, and he loved to share them with anyone who had the time to listen. And while he was telling those stories, you would more than likely get a couple of Jerry Clower or Justin Wilson stories thrown into the mix as well. George was so proud to have grown up in the Sand Hill community and deeply loved all of his fellow community and church members.
