Michael Eugene White of Gilmer, Texas, was born on November 20, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Marion Ingram White and Vivian Isabelle Drinnin White, and passed from this life on August 26, 2026, in Gilmer, Texas.

Michael worked as an accountant for many years before retiring. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University. He spent a lot of years doing what he loved the most, raising polled Herefords. He was also a Masonic member for many years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son Sean White of Missouri; son Scott Murphy of Avinger; and daughter Krissie Baker of Gilmer; grandsons Andrew Linder and Jordan Murphy; granddaughter Chanel Pratte; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Vivian White; his brother Byron White and his wife, Martha White of Gilmer.

He was so very loved by all of us left behind. We will miss his witty sayings, his stubborn streak, and that mischievous smile. Rest in peace, Mike. We love you, and we will see you again.

Mass of Christian Burial for Edna Rebecca Hoelscher, 98, of Gilmer, Texas, will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the Church of the Visitation, Westphalia, Texas. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at McWhorter Funeral Home, Gilmer, Texas.

Edna was born on June 20, 1928, in Little Hope, Texas, to Thomas Robert Caldwell and Ester May Wright Caldwell, and passed from this life on September 3, 2026, in Tyler, Texas, surrounded by her family.

Edna married Melvin Hoelscher on December 26, 1962. She was a nail technician for many years. Edna was also a rural mail carrier and worked in the lunchroom at Union Hill School.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Delilah Ann Hall (Dan), Heidi Wren (Chris), and Phil Hoelscher (Melissa); son-in-law, Doyle Letney; grandchildren, Elizabeth Reindel, Michael Thomas, John Griswold, Barry Griswold, Pete Letney, Jake Wren, Erin Smith, Tucker Wren, Jodi Bradley, and Nicholas Hoelscher; great grandchildren, Braden Hahn, Jack Thomas, Salem Smith, Syris Smith, and Miles Bradley; and great grandchild, Tru Thomas.

She was preceded by her parents; husband, Melvin Hoelscher; and her daughter, Natalie Onell Letney.

Funeral services for Tommy Norman Cade will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 6, 2026, at McWhorter Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm, prior to the service.

Tommy was born on January 17, 1945, in Terrell, Texas, to George Norman Cade and Gloria Lucille Wooldridge Cade, and passed from this life on September 3, 2026, in Gilmer, Texas.

Tommy worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years before his retirement.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wanda Cade; daughters, Audra Wadsworth, Scarlett Johnson, Spring Cade, and Crystal Hayden (Tony); siblings, Wesley Cade, Holly Schmidt, and Constance Cade; grandchildren, Emily, Christian, Christopher, Blake, Lillian, Harrison, Tanner, Cathrine, Noah, Camden, Reyni, Rigby, Fisher, Harleigh, and Trenton; and great grandchildren, Kenna, Elliott, Kenleigh, Julius, Evan, and Rebecca Kay.

Funeral services for Robert Andrews, 85, of Texarkana, Texas, will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 4, 2026, at McWhorter Funeral Home, with Brother Robert “Skipper” Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm, prior to the service.

Robert was born on January 2, 1941, in Gilmer, Texas, to Robert Wade Andrews, Sr. and Ruth Mashburn Andrews, and passed from this life on August 31, 2026, in Texarkana, Texas.

Robert married Martha Jane Hall on August 29, 1959, and the couple just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. He began a career with International Paper Company, where he served as a supervisor in the woodlands division for 20 years. After that time, he and his wife, Martha, opened and operated Andrews Trucking Company, providing transport in the forestry industry for many years until his retirement.

Memorial services for Eva Norma Morey, 93, of Gilmer, Texas, will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Grace Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas, with Brother Brian McCormick officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home.

Eva was born on October 19, 1932, in Conneaut, Ohio, to Maurice and Florance Messenger Bort, and she went home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2026, in Longview, Texas, surrounded by her family.

Eva married Alford Morey in 1955. She loved to crochet. Eva enjoyed baking cakes and pies in Conneaut. She was a member of the Senior Center in Upshur County.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Thomas Morey Sr. (Carolyn), Gordon Morey (Minnie), and Connie Wilson; sisters, Mary Wheeler, and Jean Matthews; and 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Doyal Ray Stephens passed peacefully from this life on August 27, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, businessman, musician, songwriter, hotrodder, and friend. He was known for his strong work ethic, quick wit, and above all, his deep love for God and his family.

Doyal was born at home in Kensing, Texas, on February 14, 1938. The family story tells that his mother was playing dominoes when she had to pause the game long enough to have her baby—then returned to finish her dominoes game afterward.

After leaving school during his senior year, Doyal began working at American Can Company in Arlington, where he spent nearly 18 years. He later owned Stephens Appliance, worked for K&N Electric in East Texas, and founded Tri Star Supply in 1994, which he operated until selling the company in 2002.

In 1957, he met the love of his life, Myrtis Ann Schultz, in Cooper, Texas. They had known each other only two weeks before they married on July 13, 1957. Their whirlwind romance became nearly 70 years of marriage, family, music, and sweet memories. Together, they raised four children: Clint, Keith, Randy, and Kim.

Doyal had a lifelong love of music. In 1972, he and Myrtis traveled to Nashville twice, recording eight songs with musicians from Hank Williams Jr.'s, Mel Tillis's, and Tex Ritter's bands. His songwriting earned the attention of Eddie Pleasant, Hank Williams Jr.'s business manager, who considered one of Doyal's songs for Charlie...

Sue married Pete Taylor on October 14, 1950, in Kilgore, Texas. She was an LVN for many years before her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete Taylor; her daughter, Brenda Thompkinson; her son, Mike Taylor; her brothers, Bubba Bradley, David Bradley, and Leonard Bradley; and her sisters, Maudean Chamberlain, Skippy Holmes, and Faye Mooney.

Pallbearers will be Jason Taylor, Troy Taylor, Justin Taylor, John Michael Taylor, Rick Hanshew, and Sandy Mac Taylor.
