TRUE or FALSE: If you're sore after a workout, you've injured yourself.

❌ FALSE.

Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is a normal response to exercise—especially after trying a new activity, increasing intensity, or working muscles in a different way. Soreness typically appears 12 – 24 hours after exercise and peaks within 24 – 72 hours.

However, sharp pain, significant swelling, bruising, or difficulty using a muscle or joint could be signs of an injury rather than normal soreness.

Knowing the difference can help you recover safely and recognize when it's time to seek medical care. If your pain doesn't improve or you're concerned about a possible injury, our specialists are here to help.

Back to the Game. Back to the Music. ⚽🎸

When Robert injured his hand, it meant putting two of the things he loved most on hold—playing soccer for Hartford Athletic and playing guitar.

With expert care from Dr. Daniel Mastella and dedicated hand therapy from the team at The Hand Center, Robert worked through every step of his recovery. Just a few months later, he was back on the soccer field, back to playing guitar, and back to doing what he loves.

📱 Elbow pain, numbness, or tingling in your ring and little fingers? Your phone could be part of the problem.

"Cell phone elbow," also known as cubital tunnel syndrome, can develop when the elbow stays bent for long periods while texting, scrolling, or talking on the phone. Taking breaks and changing positions can help, but persistent symptoms shouldn't be ignored.

If you're experiencing these symptoms, our specialists can help determine the cause and recommend treatment options.
