A sudden earache, stubborn fever, or painful bug bite can throw off your whole day. When an unexpected health concern comes up, you may wonder where to go for care. For many urgent, non-life-threatening concerns, same-day primary care may be a convenient and more affordable option.

Emergency rooms are designed to care for serious and life-threatening conditions. Same-day primary care can help with many common illnesses, minor injuries, and symptoms that need attention but are not an emergency.

Knowing the difference can help you feel more confident choosing the right care for your needs. Deciding where to go can still feel confusing, especially when symptoms appear suddenly. Understanding when to call your primary care provider and when to seek emergency care can help you get the right level of care when you need it.
