Family Service of Glencoe's mission is to provide a stronger community and meet individual and family needs through services which identify, prevent and resolve social and emotional problems. These services include

- Clinical therapy for families, couples and individuals
- Support of youth and adolescent programming in the Glencoe schools
- 24- hour crisis intervention services
- Family events in

cluding Family Fun Fest
- Employee assistance program for local employees
- Scholarship screening for local day care, school, park district and sports programs
- Support for Glencoe seniors including housing assistance
Referrals to other organizations

Through these services and more, we strive to encourage emotional well-being for the good of the individual, the family and, ultimately the community.

RECOGNIZING OUR PARTNERS: CHRIST CHURCH WINNETKA✨

We want to extend our immeasurable thanks to Christ Church Winnetka, for choosing Family Service of Glencoe as a Benevolence Grant recipient this past June.

As we continue to see a climbing need for our services, funding from Christ Church Winnetka makes a tremendous impact on clients who are unable to pay for services or lack insurance coverage. Thereby ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent individuals and families from accessing essential mental health services.

With increasing community need, the unwavering support we receive from Christ Church Winnetka has been instrumental in allowing FSG to serve community members who would otherwise go without care.

💙 Did you know? The Village of Glencoe, Illinois – Government was recognized as a Dementia Friendly Community in 2019 by Dementia Friendly America💙

It’s true! As a Dementia Friendly Community, ongoing efforts are crucial to ensure members are aware of best practices for supporting individuals living with the disease.

The Village of Glencoe recognized the need to offer training for the Glencoe Public Works Department as they interact with Glencoe residents and visitors in a variety of ways… That’s where FSG comes in.

On July 14th, FSG’s Senior Program Manager and Crisis Specialist, Emily Mysel, LCSW, held a presentation at Village Hall empowering Public Works members to recognize symptoms, connect with the appropriate person for additional follow-up and guidance, and how to best communicate a concern of a Glencoe resident or visitor who may be living with dementia.

RECOGNIZING OUR PARTNERS: MORAINE TOWNSHIP✨

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Moraine Township, for granting us the funds to continue providing responsive, efficient, and compassionate services and support for residents in need.

This support ensures that Moraine Township residents can access affordable counseling regardless of insurance coverage or ability to pay. In addition to ongoing counseling services, funding also helps make single-session consultations, services in Spanish and Portuguese, senior support services, and community education programs more accessible to those who need them.

FSG has been serving Moraine Township residents for many years. As a border community, Glencoe shares strong ties with its northern neighbors. Grant dollars from Moraine Township will be used to underwrite the cost of counseling services for individuals and families of all ages residing in Moraine Township.

RECOGNIZING OUR PARTNERS: WLC NORTHSHORE✨

We would like to extend our immense gratitude for WLC Northshore, who has been a generous partner of FSG for many years.

With support from a WLC Northshore grant, seniors in New Trier Township can access critical services and resources that enable them to remain in their homes, preserve independence, and continue living in the community where they have deep roots and have contributed over generations.

FSG’s Senior Housing Program serves lower-income senior adults with long term residency in New Trier Township and wish to remain in the community they call home. For these residents, their hometown represents more than a location; it is the foundation of long-standing relationships, stability, and community engagement.

We had a great turnout for Coffee & Conversation in June!☕

Each month, FSG and Glencoe Public Safety host Coffee & Conversation, a meet-up where community members have the opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee, connect with first responders, and access valuable support and resources from FSG and other community partners.

We had a wonderful time meeting with Glencoe residents and visiting with Tracy Katz Muhl (), State Representative for the southern part of Glencoe, who made a guest appearance. Representative Muhl, along with other visitors, enjoyed learning about the work FSG is doing and connecting with the community.

Coffee and Conversation is held monthly through September, with our next event taking place next Wednesday, July 29th, 10:30 a.m. at Hometown in Glencoe (📍700 Vernon Ave). Everyone is welcome to attend!

Alex Ochoa, LCSW, FSG Outreach and Intake Manager, provided a presentation at on the importance of men's mental health. The presentation highlighted skills men can use to better manage their mental health, how others around them could encourage them to seek out help, and ways to offer support at home.

Afterwards, participants engaged in a lively conversation and left feeling more prepared to help loved ones and themselves.
