Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, honor the heroes who ran toward danger, and recognize the first responders, service members, and families forever impacted by that day.
May we never forget the courage, sacrifice, and unity shown in our nation’s darkest hours.
9.11.01. Never Forget. 🇺🇸
2,977 lights. Full architectural scale. Zero sound.
Last night, New York Harbor witnessed one of the most breathtaking tributes in modern history.
2,977 drones rose into the night sky - each light representing a soul lost on September 11, 2001. The sequence began as a swirling helix of light, lifting upward before precisely assembling into the glowing silhouettes of the Twin Towers at their true, full scale.
The installation, titled “2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor,” was created to mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Built with deep input from victims’ families, survivors, and first responders, the memorial transformed sheer technology into pure reverence. Among those who helped shape the tribute was retired FDNY firefighter Tim Brown, who lost close friends in the collapse. Three specific lights in the formation were dedicated to honor firefighters Chris Blackwell, Terry Hatton, and Michael Lynch.
After standing tall against the Manhattan skyline once more, the towers slowly dissolved, breaking apart back into 2,977 individual points of light fading into the darkness.
A silent, powerful reminder that though years pass, we never forget 🇺🇸❤️
