Dr. Koumanis is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Koumanis attended medical school in London Ontario at the University of Western Ontario from 1993-1997. He is also a fully trained general surgeon, studying at the world renowned McGill University in Montreal, Quebec 1997-2003. Dr.Koumanis also underwent additional training in Burns and Plastic Surgery at Indiana Univer
sity School of Medicine. There he learned the fine art and science of burn reconstruction and plastic surgery procedures. Finally he finished his training at Nassau University Medical Center via SUNY and the Long island Plastic Surgery Group (longest running plastic surgery group in the United States). Here he trained in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery including a significant amount of cosmetic surgery. Once graduated, Dr.Koumanis, was hired as an assistant professor of plastic surgery at Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College. This was a busy trauma and plastic surgery center. He performed facial, extremity, hand trauma, abdominal wall reconstruction and cosmetic surgery as an example of some of the procedures. He also instructed medical students and residents in the art of plastic reconstruction just as he was taught previously. He was the director of Burns and Plastic Surgery Trauma during his time there between 2006-2010, afterwards leaving for private practice less than an hour north in Saratoga Springs and the Glens Falls regions of upstate New York. Dr.Koumanis also has numerous book chapters and research publicatons in peer reviewed medical journals. In July of 2010, Dr.Koumanis moved his practice to a private setting in Saratoga Springs, NY and has priveleges at 4 main hospitals, Saratoga Hospital, Glens Falls Hospital, Ellis Hospital and Albany Medical Center. He performs cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries at these accredited facilities and also performs cosmetic procedures. Dr.Koumanis practices all forms of plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has a special interest in breast surgery including breast reconstruction. Dr. Koumanis performs breast augmentation, breast lifts (mastopexy), abdominoplasty/tummy tuck, body contouring, liposuction, vaginal and labial rejuvenation, facelift, cosmetic eyelid surgery, brow lift, neck lift, post weight loss surgery, mommy make overs and upper arm lifts. He also performs a full variety of facial filler injections and Botox injections.
