👟 The 2026 Broad Street Run is just a few days away! Here are some reminders and tips for new and experienced participants running Broad Street.

👑 Watch of the crown…Having made this mistake in the past, it is important to remember the crown (or camber) of the road can affect your body’s running mechanics. The camber can create a small leg-length discrepancy, and potentially result in back, hip, or knee pain after some time. Be mindful of where in the road you are running. There will be a lot of runners and you may quickly find yourself close to the sidewalks trying to avoid the densest groups of runners. Make sure to try and alternate sides of the road, switching up at the mile markers or water stations. If you decide to stick to the center of Broad Street, be prepared to avoid (or hop up onto) the cement curb medians along the route.

✅ Make a plan for travel to the start and arrive early…This may seem obvious, but making it to the starting are can be difficult enough to navigate with the amount of runners making their way to Broad and Fisher Streets. An early arrival will allow for adequate time to warm up, wait in line for a port-a-potty, and/or find your assigned corral.

🏁 The finish line...Remember that entrrance sign for the Navy Yard is not the finish, as there still is about a quarter mile left to the finish. Also be sure to keep yourself moving once you cross the finish. In past years, there has been a logjam of runners once the finish line is crossed. It is important to keep moving and adequately cool-down with a light jog or walk after the race, but it can be difficult with the number of competitors. Make sure to keep your body moving, such as jogging in place, if you hit a wall of runners.

Most importantly have fun and enjoy the sights and sounds of this Philadelphia. It truly is a great way to experience all of the great neighborhoods and atmosphere of this great city. Good luck to all runners Sunday!
