❓ FAQ: When is the right time to refer to hospice?

The answer is often earlier than most people think.

Many patients and families are referred too late to fully benefit from the comfort, guidance, and support that hospice can provide. If a patient has a serious, life-limiting illness and curative treatment is no longer the primary goal, it may be time to start the conversation.

Early referrals allow patients and families more time to receive expert symptom management, emotional support, caregiver education, and compassionate care focused on quality of life.

Not sure if it's the right time? We're here to help. Learn more on our website or contact our team to discuss whether hospice may be the right next step: hchotv.org

Happy National Nonprofit Day!

At HomeCare & Hospice of the Valley, our story began with a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves compassionate, dignified care close to home.

In 2008, two nurses and a chaplain saw a need in our communities and built an organization from the ground up so no one would have to face life's most difficult moments without the support they deserved.

Today, that same mission continues to guide us. As the only local nonprofit hospice serving Eagle, Garfield, and Pitkin counties, every decision we make is rooted in caring for our neighbors. Our Board of Directors lives and works here. Our staff members are part of the communities they serve. Our volunteers and donors make it possible to provide compassionate care, comfort, and hope to local families.

On National Nonprofit Day, we are grateful for everyone who has been part of this journey. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us ensure that every patient and family receives the care they deserve. Together, we're making a lasting difference right here at home.
