The holidays can bring about stress and difficult emotions for anyone, and especially for people living with depression. Fortunately, these expert-backed strategies can help you feel better.
Here are some helpful solutions that you can manage right from your own home:
1) Get outdoors and stay active - whether you are hiking, taking in the sun, or even doing something indoors that keeps you busy, your focus will be on that activity, which you will be enjoying.
2) If you are feeling down, then reach out to your loved ones and talk out your feelings. Do not keep it bottled up inside. Being able to express your emotions is how you can cope with your inner feelings.
3) Set your own boundaries - if you are in a position where it is uncomfortable, then remove yourself and place yourself into a positive environment.
4) Volunteer - Volunteering your time to a nonprofit organization or a community-based event will bring you a better sense of purpose. You are making a different to help others in need.
