Have you ever felt like an entire month flew by in the blink of an eye?

There is actually some science behind that feeling.

When we follow the same routines day after day, our brains become more efficient. Because familiar experiences require less attention, the brain creates fewer distinct memory markers. As a result, repetitive days can blend together when we look back on them.

On the other hand, new experiences, meaningful moments, and activities that break our routine tend to be encoded more strongly in memory. This is why a weekend trip, trying a new hobby, exploring a new trail, or spending quality time with loved ones can feel more memorable than weeks of ordinary routine.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your mental health is pause long enough to enjoy the small moments of sunshine in between. ☀️

Step outside.
Feel the warmth.
Take a deep breath.
Let your nervous system soften for a moment.
