Not all headaches need medication. Sometimes, tension headaches respond beautifully to simple stretches that release tight muscles in your neck and shoulders.

This quick technique targets the occipital muscles at the base of your skull, a common trigger point for tension headaches. While stretches like this can offer relief for muscle-related headaches, persistent or worsening headaches deserve attention from a specialist.

If you're experiencing frequent headaches, changes in headache patterns, or headaches that interfere with daily life, it's time to get answers. Our headache specialists can help identify triggers, rule out underlying conditions, and create a personalized treatment plan that goes beyond quick fixes.

You don't have to live with constant head pain.

Innovation in neurology doesn't happen by accident. It happens through research, collaboration, and a commitment to advancing the field.

This month, our team is participating in a national clinical trial studying new treatment approaches for Multiple Sclerosis. This research has the potential to change how we understand and treat MS, not just nationally, but right here in Minnesota, where MS rates are among the highest in the country.

At Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology, we don't just follow the latest research. We help create it. Our specialists actively participate in clinical trials, present at national conferences, and contribute to the scientific understanding of neurological conditions.

That means our patients get access to cutting-edge treatments and the latest evidence-based care, often years before it becomes standard practice elsewhere.

This is what 70 years of independent, expert neurology looks like. Research-driven. Patient-focused. Always moving forward.

Summer heat isn't just hard on your body. It's hard on your brain.

When temperatures rise, your brain is one of the first organs to feel the effects of dehydration, heat stress, and disrupted routines. But a few simple adjustments can keep your neurological health strong all summer long.

☀️ Drink water before you feel thirsty (your brain is 73% water and needs constant hydration)

🧢 Protect your head in the sun (heat exhaustion affects cognitive function)

😴 Keep consistent sleep schedules even with longer days (your brain repairs itself during sleep)

🥗 Eat brain-boosting summer foods like berries, leafy greens, and fatty fish

🚶 Move in the cooler parts of the day (morning walks support brain health without overheating)

🧠 Watch for heat-related symptoms like confusion, dizziness, or severe headaches

Small, seasonal habits protect your brain when it needs it most.

Questions about headaches, memory, or other neurological symptoms this summer? Our team is here. Be Seen Sooner.

Fireworks, backyard games, lake activities. July 4th weekend is full of fun. It's also one of the busiest times of year for preventable brain injuries.

Before you head out to celebrate, take 30 seconds to protect your brain and your family's:

🎆 Keep a safe distance from fireworks (debris and falls cause head injuries every year)

🚤 Wear life jackets on boats (drowning and water impacts affect the brain)

🍺 Designate a sober driver (alcohol-related crashes are a leading cause of TBI)

⚾ Use helmets for bikes, ATVs, and sports (even "just for fun" activities need protection)

🧠 Know concussion signs (confusion, headache, nausea, dizziness. Get checked even if it seems minor)

Most traumatic brain injuries are preventable. Small decisions this weekend can protect your brain for a lifetime.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July from all of us at MCN.
