What a way to kick off the 2026 Canadian Climbing Medicine Symposium. 🧗‍♂️

Yesterday, we brought together an incredible group of clinicians, coaches, researchers and climbers united by a shared goal: advancing the way we understand, support and care for the climbing community.

After opening remarks from Yasser, we dove into a full day of learning with outstanding presentations from leaders in the field, including Dr. Jared Vagy, Dr. Carrie Cooper and Dr. Kevin Cowell.

From evidence-based rehabilitation to performance and injury management, Day 1 was filled with thoughtful discussions, practical takeaways and meaningful connections.

We wrapped up the day by stepping out of the symposium venue and onto the rock for a group rope climb - a perfect reminder of the community that brings us all together.

Thank you to our speakers, attendees, volunteers and supporters. This symposium exists because of the passion and dedication of this community and we’re so grateful to share it with you ❤️

Seven years ago, I started The Climb Clinic with no blueprint. 😅

I made a lot of mistakes along the way. Some were frustrating, some were expensive, and every one of them taught me something that made me a better clinician. 🫡

There wasn’t a roadmap for becoming a climbing clinician, so I spent years traveling across the U.S. and internationally to learn from incredible mentors, researchers, coaches, and surgeons. 🌎

Looking back, I realize how much easier the journey would have been if someone had simply shared the lessons they learned before me. 🙏

That’s exactly why I’m hosting this free webinar. 📚

My hope is that by sharing my experiences, I can help shorten someone else’s learning curve and encourage more healthcare professionals to confidently care for the climbing community. 🤝

Gastons l Rebuilding Strength & Confidence 💪🧗‍♂️

Gastons can be one of the most demanding shoulder positions in climbing—especially if you’ve had a previous shoulder injury 😬

It’s not uncommon to feel hesitant or apprehensive when loading this position again 🧠

In the clinic, we take a gradual, structured approach to help climbers rebuild strength, control, and confidence in these movements. 🏗️

👉 Trust the rehab and general strength training process—it’s what creates the adaptations needed to support this position long-term 🔁

👉 Once that foundation is in place, graded exposure and part-practice can help rebuild confidence in the movement and prepare you to gaston again on the wall 💥
