Exciting news for Goochland families!

Goochland Powhatan Community Services (GPCS) has received a grant from the Virginia Health Care Foundation to bring a full-time mental health clinician into Byrd Elementary and Goochland Elementary schools.

In partnership with Goochland County Public Schools, Allie, this clinician will provide on-site counseling, crisis support, and care coordination—helping students get the help they need without traveling long distances for care.

This expands our existing school-based mental health services and strengthens early intervention for kids in our community.

Thank you, Virginia Health Care Foundation, for investing in the mental health of Goochland’s children!

Monday, August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day.

Since 2020, more than 43 Powhatan residents have lost their lives to overdose. Each number represents a person, a family, and a community forever changed by loss.

Stop by Village Park in Powhatan to honor the lives lost, connect with local resources, and hold space for the families and loved ones who continue to grieve.

🎬 In Honor of Overdose Awareness Day, August 31st

Join us at the Goochland Pathways Building on August 31st at 2:00 PM for a community screening of Beautiful Boy, a powerful film that explores addiction, recovery, family, and the impact that substance use can have on everyone involved.

💜 This screening is an opportunity to come together, remember those we have lost, support those in recovery, and continue conversations that can help reduce stigma and save lives.
