I want to take a minute to talk about the first Dr. Rains, my mom, Dr. Celeste Rains, DO.
She was named the 2026 KEMSA Physician of the Year, and she was also recognized for 25 years of service as the Logan County EMS Medical Director.
My mom has spent so many years taking care of people, helping EMS, supporting rural healthcare, and being someone people can count on.
Growing up, I got to see that side of her. I saw the long hours, the phone calls, the responsibility, and the way she cared about people. I truly don’t think I would be in healthcare today without her example. She showed me early on how much of an impact you can have by helping others and taking care of people when they need it most.
Congratulations on being named KEMSA’s 2026 Physician of the Year. Thank you for the example you’ve set for me and for so many others.
