Today, our staff gathered for lunch to celebrate and honor Herman Bontrager as he prepares to retire from our Board of Directors at the end of September.

Herman has served on our Board since 2010, including more than a decade as Board Chair, and played a key role in leading our Keeping the Promise: Building Hope capital campaign, which raised more than $13 million for our new building in Gordonville.

We’re incredibly grateful for Herman’s thoughtful leadership, commitment to the Clinic’s mission, and unique ability to bring people and communities together.

Thank you, Herman, for 16 years of service, friendship, and dedication to the Clinic! We’ll miss you! ❤️

In our on-site laboratory, Cara performs Plain Insight Panel™ carrier screen testing, genetic testing, and amino acid analysis—helping provide answers for patients and families facing rare genetic conditions. 🔬

She is passionate about combining advanced medical science with compassionate care, and she loves that the Clinic's state-of-the-art laboratory allows her to use science to make a difference.

Outside of work, Cara enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, exploring the outdoors and trying new family activities.

The Memphis, Missouri, Benefit Auction is happening this weekend at the Ed Good Family Farm! ☀️

Join us Friday, August 14, starting at 5 p.m., for a cheesesteak dinner and children’s auction, then come back Saturday for a day of community, fellowship, great food, and plenty of auction finds.

The fun begins with an airplane candy drop at 9:30 a.m. ✈️ 🍬 , followed by the auction at 10:15 a.m.

We’re excited to welcome Jonathan Deitrick, BSN, RN, MBA, to the Clinic! 👋

Jonathan recently joined our team as our Nursing Director. With experience in pediatric and emergency nursing across school health and acute care settings, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. 🩺

At the Clinic, Jonathan oversees our nursing programs, including clinical support for outpatient, outreach, and subspecialty care, as well as patient advocacy and home-based palliative care.

Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys traveling with his family, hiking, exercising, and cheering on his favorite Philadelphia sports teams. 🏀 🏈

Meet Our Team: Sean Schreckengast 🧬

As a Laboratory Scientist, Sean spends his days performing specialized genetic and biochemical testing that helps provide answers for patients and families facing rare genetic conditions. From rapid genetic diagnoses to the Plain Insight Panel™, his work plays an important role in delivering timely, accessible care. 🔬

Sean's passion for science began at an early age and grew into a fascination with biochemistry and genetics. Today, he's able to combine those interests with a career dedicated to helping others through innovative laboratory testing and compassionate care.

We're grateful to have Sean as part of our team! 💙

Welcome to the team, Brenda Yachasz, MSN, RN, CBC! 🩺

Brenda joins us as a Nurse, bringing experience in postpartum and pediatric nursing to help care for our patients and families. She’s passionate about working with children and adults and helping everyone get the care they need.

Outside of the Clinic, Brenda enjoys traveling to visit her four adult children and seven grandchildren throughout the United States. ✈️❤️
