The youth panel is always a highlight of Children’s Summit and this year was no exception. These youth came from many different backgrounds and had all been through hard things. They took the time to be with us and to name the mentors and meaningful people in their lives. We are so grateful.

Nicole Williams declares that her purpose is to “provide a creative platform where human connection, wholeness, hope, joy, resilience and vitality can be realized.” And that is what she did at Children’s Summit. Nicole ended the day with stories, drumming, and connection, and we left more inspired and more ready to get back out and do the hard work.

Christy Matthews is a true leader. She has taken what is hard in her life and used it to make her stronger and more compassionate for other people. Through her work at The Post, she builds resilience and a sense of belonging in the youth that she comes in contact with. Christy shared her life story to show us all how impactful it is when we show up for a child and truly connect with them.

Nate Tipton, director of court services for Elkhart County, is passionate about educating youth and the general public on what laws actually mean and how they impact people. One tool Nate utilizes is the digital game Juvenille Jeopardy which helps debunk misconceptions and misinformation around laws and the justice system in a fun and interactive way.

Darious Jackson serves as a Culture Champion in Leadership and Culture for Lippert Components. As a Culture Champion, he helps coach and develop leaders and strengthen workplace culture. Through this work, teams and leaders within the organization become more aware, more connected and more intentional about the impact they have on others.

During this year's Children's Summit, Dr. Julie Radlauer discussed the power of social connections, inspiring us to focus on supporting and leveraging social connections to facilitate better mental health outcomes for all.

Hello, I'm Anna Sawatzky, Director of the SOURCE. I chose The SOURCE because I love cross system work. Humans are complex and intricate and require all systems to work together for thriving. Similarly, our social systems need to be well-coordinated and holistic to support our well-being. I love working at children’s mental health in these creative and complex system ways.
