Inside our building, there are four SEPARATE offices: Chiropractic, Nurse Practitioner, Acupuncture, and Massage Therapy. To book an appointment, you have to contact that provider directly.

Menopause is the biological transition, marking the end of a woman’s menstrual cycle, affecting 75 million women in the United States.

There are three menopausal phases:
1. Perimenopause: the natural decline in reproductive hormones, resulting in the end of menstruation
2. Menopause: 12 months without menstruation, 40-58 years of age
3. Postmenopause: Phase after menopause

Common Symptoms Include:
1. Irregular Cycle
2. Hot Flashes (on average occur for 8.8 years)
3. Night Sweat
4. Mood Swings
5. Vaginal Dryness
6. Bladder Incontinence/Increased UTIs

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women. More than 110,000 women are diagnosed with gynecological cancer each year.

The US Prevention Services Task Force recommends that women begin receiving mammograms at 40 years old, and women with a family history of breast cancer should begin scanning earlier, in addition to annual breast MRIs.

Genetic Risk Factors:
1. Family history of Breast Cancer
2. BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation
3. Early menstruation (before age 12) and/or late menopause (after age 55)
4. Having children later in life or never giving birth
5. Having dense breast tissue (this can also make detecting lumps difficult)

Self-Breast Exam:
1. In a mirror, inspect your breast observing shape, dimpling, swelling, or irregularities.
2. With the pads of your 3 middle fingers, check the entire breast and armpit region using a firm light/medium breast. Check each breast, noticing any new, thicker, or hardened knots.

It’s important to note that the majority of breast lumps are not breast cancer; however, all breast lumps should be investigated by a healthcare professional.

An autoimmune disease is a condition in which the immune system attacks the body instead of defending it. If you have an autoimmune disease, your immune system is more active than it should be, attacking self-antigens, cells, and/or organs.

Common autoimmune diseases include Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), psoriasis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), multiple sclerosis (MS), and type 1 diabetes.

Stanford Medicine scientists believe that the reason women experience more autoimmune disease than men is because of their double X chromosomes. Other researchers believe that the vast endocrinological (hormonal) changes that women experience in their lifetime may also play a role.
