Hilgendorf Memorials was established in 1950 and was known as Ozaukee Monument Works. When purchased by Earl Hilgendorf in 1969, it became known as Hilgendorf Memorials. Since then, Earl, his son Blaine and Blaine’s wife Kay have proudly continued close relationships within Grafton and Ozaukee County and have expanded services to better serve families in these and surrounding communities. As Rock

of Ages Memorialists, we have more than 65 years of combined knowledge and experience in the memorial business. We understand that creating a personal memorial may be unfamiliar, so personal service and the capabilities of our experienced team are provided for you. We would be glad to visit you in your home, or, if more convenient, welcome you to our studio at 1657 Wisconsin Avenue, Grafton, Wisconsin.

When someone we love passes away, grief can feel overwhelming and intangible. Memorials, whether a headstone, urn, mausoleum, or living tribute, provide something deeply important: a physical place for remembrance.

A memorial’s finish affects how inscriptions and light interact with the stone. From polished, steeled, to rock pitch, each finish offers a distinct look and feel. Finishes can also be combined within a single design blending smooth, textured, and natural elements to create contrast, depth, and a truly personalized memorial. Rock of Ages retailers can help guide you in choosing the right combination.

Proud to spend time in Reno supporting the installation of the Liberty Dogs statue, an important civic project that honors service, sacrifice, and the extraordinary bond between working dogs and their handlers.

My sincere thanks to Janey, Geoff, and Paula Slater for their leadership, trust, and commitment to seeing this project through with care and purpose. Collaborative efforts like this are what make lasting civic memorials possible. Reno continues to impress! Not only for its welcoming people and strong community pride, but also for its setting. With the Sierra Nevada as a backdrop and the remarkable beauty of Lake Tahoe just beyond, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting region for a project that reflects strength, loyalty, and endurance.

Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Liberty Dogs Project and to be part of something that will stand for generations.
