“Let’s pick 3 foods to explore” 😂🤪

In honor of National Eat Your Vegetables Day, let's talk about Feeding Therapy!

Feeding therapy helps "problem eaters" reduce mealtime aversions, overcome sensory processing difficulties, and expand their food repertoires. Sessions focus on gradual, low-pressure exposure—such as touching, kissing, smelling, and licking—before actual consumption is expected.

Sensory Exploration: Children touch, squish, or smell food, minimizing fear.
No-Pressure Interaction: The goal is to kiss, lick, or bite-and-spit rather than eat full portions.
Food Scientists: Kids describe the color, shape, and texture of foods in games.
Kitchen Involvement: Helping pour, mix, or arrange ingredients makes new foods less intimidating

Your kid can eat something, even if they do not like it.

✨ "Play and learning are like two wings of a butterfly-one cannot exist without the other." ~ Carlina Rinaldi ✨

You may have seen this quote attributed to Dr Karyn Purvis: “Scientists have found it takes about 400 repetitions to create a new synapse — unless it’s done with play, in which case it only takes 10–20.” 🧠💫

While Dr Purvis did speak frequently about how play, joy and felt safety dramatically speed up learning, no published study has ever been found to support those specific numbers. Unfortunately, she became ill and passed away before she could provide the original reference, so it was never formally documented.

What is well supported by neuroscience is the benefits of play therapy:

Play therapy physically "rewires" the developing brain through neuroplasticity. By engaging the midbrain and limbic system in a safe environment, it builds new neural pathways, integrates left- and right-brain functions, and strengthens emotional regulation.

Key benefits include:
🔥 Synaptic Plasticity: Play enhances dopamine and attention, which accelerates memory consolidation.

🧠 Cognitive Development: Play-rich environments strengthen the neural networks involved in cognition, flexibility, and problem-solving.

💡Learning Efficiency: Research indicates that play shapes brain development and significantly improves learning efficiency.

This Movement Monday is for our little ones on the move, we are going to talk about shoe recommendations at different skill levels, along with what to look for vs what to avoid!

We know it’s fun to match our kids, especially with shoes... but their footwear matters.

Thinkgs to look for:
✅ wide toe box
✅ lightweight material
✅ heel support
✅ semi-flexible sole
✅ adjustable straps
...vs things to avoid in your kid's shoes:
❌ easily collapsible/over-flexible shoe
❌ narrow/pointed shoes
❌ heavy/thick soled shoes
❌ crocs
❌ crocs
❌ crocs
❌ just kidding, but no, for real, avoid crocs, or native shoes or jelly/rubber shoes because no adjustability, lack of support at the heel, and can also become slippery!

Friendly reminder to let us know if your kiddo is unable to make their appointment. Someone else might be waiting for that phone call to get in 😊🫡

(No threats were actually made when making this video; for humor only)

Today’s challenge is The Soft Landing Challenge 💪

This drill is designed to improve joint health, increase explosiveness, and protect the knees and ankles. Also, trains the body to decelerate safely rather than landing stiffly.

Can you jump up and land softly?
