✨MYTH VS. FACT Monday ✨

MYTH: If a child doesn’t tell someone right away, it probably didn’t happen.

FACT: Children may delay telling someone about abuse because they feel scared, confused, embarrassed, or worried about what will happen.

There is no “right” timeline for a child to disclose. What matters is that when they are ready to speak, they are met with patience, support, and belief.

Believe them. Support them. Help them heal. 💙

Our PRCAC team had a wonderful time gathering together! 💙

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Massey’s BBQ while holding our staff meeting and celebrating a very special milestone 10 years of service for Shelby Gibson! 🎉

We are incredibly grateful for Shelby’s dedication, compassion, and commitment to the children and families we serve.

Our team also had the opportunity to visit the site of our new Children’s Advocacy Center and see the progress firsthand! 🏗️💙

It’s exciting to watch this vision become a reality and imagine all the ways this new space will provide safety, healing, hope, and support to children and families in our community.

A huge thank you to Massey’s BBQ for the wonderful hospitality and delicious food! We appreciate you making our team gathering extra special. ❤️

We’re grateful for our incredible team, our supportive community, and the exciting future ahead! 💙

🚨 Mandated Reporter Monday 🚨

Did you know? If you suspect a child is being abused or neglected, you have a responsibility to report it.

You don’t have to have proof or know exactly what happened, a reasonable suspicion is enough to make a report. 💜

Speaking up could help protect a child.

Cook Children’s Center for Community Health hosted the South Region School Counselor Roundtable yesterday, and we were honored to be part of this meaningful event! 💙

Our very own Zoya Thompson was a guest speaker, sharing valuable insight on trauma-informed care for children. We are grateful to have Zoya as one of our counselors at the Paluxy River Children’s Advocacy Center. Her compassion and expertise make a meaningful impact on the children we serve.⭐️

We enjoyed connecting with school counselors from across the region while sharing information about our organization and the free educational programs we offer to schools and the community.

Thank you, Cook Children’s Center for Community Health, for including us and for your continued partnership in supporting children and families in our community! 🩵

Forensic Interview Friday🧸💙

When there's a concern that a child has experienced abuse, a forensic interview provides a safe, child-friendly setting where they can share their experience with a specially trained professional.

This process helps reduce the number of times a child has to tell their story while supporting the investigation and helping connect families with the services they need.

Every child deserves to be heard with compassion and care.
