Advanced Screening & Wellness

Advanced Screening & Wellness Direct Access Testing was coined by the Federal Government to describe medical tests and blood tests that are performed without a physician order.

Generally DAT testing includes certain types of imaging tests such as Ultrasound, CT and MRI but can also include laboratory tests that involve drawing blood or tissue samples. The results go directly to the consumer putting them in control of their own healthcare. Cllents range from proactive individuals to uninsured patients who cannot afford the cost of insurance or currently, don't carry heal

th insurance due to cost. Also the advent of the Health Savings Account and high deductable insurance plan create an atmosphere where DAT testing is viewed as cost saving to the consumer or patient. "Self-Diagnosis" remains the contrary opinion for people in the medical community who appose such types of testing including results that may be life threatening or considered normal providing a false sense of worry or security. Yet, DAT testing persists as individuals continue to take controle of their own health care and demand results they can retain and take to which ever doctor they prefer. Avoidance of unnecessary office visits and repeat visits to discuss bloodwork results creates time saving mechanisms embraced by people who are busy or simply don't have the time to wait in a doctors office.
