We are excited to welcome Helen Achilleoudes, Psy.D to our clinic.

Dr. Achilleoudes is a neuropsychologist who specializes in assessing cognitive and behavioral disorders as well as providing treatment for some individuals. She provides neuropsychological evaluations for individuals from early childhood to late adulthood. Her specialty area includes evaluation for concerns related to autism and dementia, as well as many other disorders.

📱 Screen time and kids: It’s a two-way street.

A new meta-analysis of 117 studies—over 292,000 children worldwide—found something important:
Too much screen time can lead to emotional and behavioral problems. But kids who are already struggling emotionally also tend to turn to screens more.
It’s not about blame. It’s about awareness.
Researchers suggest parents use parental controls, set boundaries, AND check in emotionally—kids who use screens heavily may need support, not just restrictions.

Talk don’t text….

If your teenage daughter texts you because she’s stressed, have her call you instead. Hearing mom’s voice improves mood and decreases stress. Texting increases stress.

A recent study showed that girls who talked to their mom on the phone had an increase in oxytocin (love) hormone level and a decrease in cortisol (stress) hormone. Girls who texted their mom, and didn’t have the benefit of hearing her voice, had increased cortisol levels and no change in oxytocin.
