The past week has been amazing!! It started with assisting in the delivery of twin boys, and I was able to assist with three more births before the end of the week!
I was gone from home for five days, so I’m incredibly grateful to my amazing husband, who held down the fort. I even came home to a clean house!! ❤️
I learned so much and had the best time getting a glimpse into the life of a midwife.
So grateful for this experience and all that I learned! 🤍

A day full of adventures while doing prenatal and postpartum visits today!
We got to give an Amish man a ride home—on the trunk of our car!

Bought some fresh homemade maple syrup, and I can't wait to try it.

I also learned that you can eat fresh corn on the cob without cooking it. I didn't try it... maybe next time! 🌽😂

The funniest moment of the day? A young child mistook me for Midwife Mykl's grandmother. I think it was the pearls... or maybe my slightly gray hair. 😂

It was such a fun day filled with unexpected moments and lots of smiles!

Attending the birth of twin baby boys yesterday was an incredible experience—one I will never forget.

Their mother was so strong and so ready to give birth. She trusted her body, listened to what it was telling her, and confidently asked for what she needed. Watching her bring her babies into the world was truly beautiful.

It was an honor to be part of an amazing birth team. We worked seamlessly together, like an orchestra, each knowing our role while Midwife Mykl served as our conductor. Watching him guide the team, support the mother and father, and calmly manage the many moving parts of a twin birth was inspiring. He led with such skill, confidence, and grace.

I feel incredibly blessed to be learning from him and to witness the beauty, strength, and teamwork that make experiences like this possible.

Amazing 16.5 hour day of home visits with Midwife Mykl today
Left my house at 7:30 this morning. Met Mykl in bagley, got in 7 home visits from lengby, McIntosh, hallock and goodridge, back to Bagley then returned home to grand forks at 12:00am. The weather was HOT but beautiful.

We found the road less traveled, Saw a beautiful sunset and learned a lot. Now it's time for some sleep.

Also loved the message on Mykl's shirt, " birth is tough but so are you"

Happy fourth everyone!! I started the day with a beautiful birth, Mama did an amazing job.

Now off to celebrate our freedom with this cute girl.

Yesterday was an eventful day.

It began with a beautiful birth. A first-mama absolutely rocked it- she was even climbing the stairs at 9 cm! She worked so hard and delivered a perfect baby girl. Moments like that are why I love what I do.

After a little rest, I headed out to meet a new family who is looking to hire a doula for their upcoming birth.

And let me just say. DON'T ALWAYS LISTEN To GOOGLE MAPS. Trust your instincts. 😅

Here's what happened:
I plugged the address into Google maps and followed the directions. When I was about a quarter mile away, it told me to take the next right... Which happened to be a muddy road straight through a cornfield.

I remember thinking, "this doesn't look right.. " but I spotted a blue shed at the end and decided to go for it anyway.

Bad idea.

I didn't get far before I got completely stuck. no going forward, no going back. So, I called the family, and thankfully, the husband came to my rescue.

I said a quick prayer asking that my vehicle could be pulled out without too much trouble- and I'm so grateful it was answered.

let's just say ... I made a very memorable first impression. 😂
