🏔️ A view like no other! 🚁

The scenery on this call was truly picture perfect. 📸 Our CareFlight crew captured these incredible views while assisting with a search and rescue mission for three lost hikers.

We landed at 11,300 feet, with the stunning Maroon Bells serving as the backdrop. 🏔️✨

Pitkin County, Colorado – On Saturday, August 29, 2026 Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office and Mountain Rescue Aspen (MRA) responded to a report of three hikers stranded at approximately 11,000 feet in the Avalanche Creek area.

The group, a parent and two juvenile children, reported being unable to safely descend and had limited food, water and communication capabilities. CareFlight of the Rockies located the hikers and assisted with their evacuation from the area.

MRA and Sheriff’s Office personnel coordinated the rescue response, with rescuers meeting the helicopter at the Redstone Coke Ovens.

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office reminds backcountry users to be prepared for changing mountain conditions and to carry adequate food, water, navigation equipment and reliable emergency communication devices.

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the all volunteer team of Mountain Rescue Aspen and CareFlight of the Rockies for their assistance.

Please slow down and give first responders the room they need to stay safe!

On 8/16 at 1:55 p.m., LVFD was dispatched to I-70 near Mile Marker 214 in Utah for a single-vehicle rollover. Engine 31 and Ambulance 32 responded alongside Grand County EMS & Fire and Utah Highway Patrol.

Firefighters arrived to find one patient trapped inside the vehicle. Crews worked to safely extricate the patient, who was then transported by CareFlight to a nearby hospital.

While crews were working the scene, one of our traffic cones—placed specifically to protect emergency apparatus and firefighters working along the interstate—was struck and destroyed by a passing driver.

Thankfully, this time it was only a cone.

🚨 Please slow down, move over, and pay attention when approaching emergency vehicles. Our firefighters, EMS crews, law enforcement officers, and other responders are working just feet from moving traffic. Giving them a little extra space can make the difference between everyone going home safely and another emergency occurring.

Thank you to Grand County EMS & Fire, Utah Highway Patrol, and CareFlight of the Rockies for the teamwork on this incident.
