When emotions become stronger or less predictable, it can be tempting to suppress them, explain them away, or act quickly to make the discomfort stop.

Emotional skill offers another possibility.

It allows you to identify what you feel, understand what the emotion is connected to, and decide how you want to respond.

At BEing There, we do not treat emotions as instructions that must be followed. We also do not treat them as problems that need to be eliminated.

Emotions provide information about your relationships, needs, fears, responsibilities, and Personal Truth. Therapy helps you use that information to make conscious choices rather than reactive ones.

Perimenopause may change the intensity of your emotional experience. It can also become an opportunity to understand yourself more fully.

For much of adulthood, women become very skilled at asking practical questions.

What needs to be done?
Who needs my help?
How do I keep everything working?
How do I avoid disappointing the people I care about?

During perimenopause, different questions may begin to emerge.

What do I actually feel?
What have I been tolerating?
Which responsibilities are truly mine?
What do I want the next part of my life to reflect?

These questions do not require immediate answers. They do require enough emotional skill to explore them without dismissing them or acting impulsively.

Therapy can help you understand what is true for you and make more deliberate choices about what comes next.

Perimenopause can make familiar parts of life feel less settled.

A relationship that once seemed manageable may begin to feel unsatisfying. Responsibilities that were carried without question may start to feel uneven. A woman may find herself reconsidering her work, her priorities, or the role she has played in other people’s lives.

This does not necessarily mean that everything needs to change.

It may mean that something deserves to be examined more honestly.

Therapy can provide a place to understand what is changing, what has been tolerated for a long time, and what choices now reflect who you have become.

“Things aren’t terrible… but they aren’t good either.”
That gray area is where many relationships stall.
You may still love each other.
You may still function well.
But something feels strained, distant, or unresolved.
Therapy isn’t only for crisis.
It’s for couples who want to understand what keeps getting in the way.
If you’re asking whether it’s “bad enough,” that question itself matters.
Book a 15-minute call and let’s talk.

Bad apologies don’t repair relationships. They often shut conversations down.
In this video, Mary Beth explains why many apologies make things worse instead of better. You’ll learn how apologies drift away from impact, seek reassurance, minimize responsibility, and avoid emotions—leaving the real issue unresolved.
Effective repair isn’t about sounding sincere or saying the right words. It requires emotional skill.
If your apologies don’t seem to change anything, it’s not a character flaw. It’s a training gap.

Some of the most disconnected relationships look peaceful.
No conflict. No drama.
And still, something feels missing.
In this video, Mary Beth explores why calm on the surface doesn’t always mean real closeness underneath.

Most couples talk about money.
Few actually decide together.
When money conversations get tense, agreement is often reached just to end the discomfort. The decision gets made, but something doesn’t sit right afterward.
In this short video, Dr. Daniel BE talks about the difference between agreement and alignment—and why that difference matters when decisions affect how connected you feel.

We use “I’m fine” when life feels manageable on the surface but disconnected underneath. Mary Beth Luedtke explores what “fine” really means and how to rediscover what feels real and meaningful.

You’re not the same people you were when you got married. Life changes you. But relationships often stay organized around old roles, old expectations, and old versions of each partner. Mary Beth Luedtke talks about how this mismatch creates distance and why couples can feel disconnected even when things look “fine” from the outside.

Sometimes life feels heavier, even when nothing looks that different. Mary Beth Luedtke explains why your old coping strategies might not work anymore—and how this “glitch” can become an opportunity for real growth.
