Three days. Three different scopes. One goal—training that applies to the work.

It was a busy few days for the Safety, Inc. team supporting one of our clients with refresher training and hands-on evaluations. We kicked things off with an 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher covering OSHA requirements along with the client’s policies and procedures, then transitioned into NFPA 70E electrical safety with a focus on practical application—including developing energized electrical work permits aligned with the client’s SOPs. We wrapped up the week getting hands-on with basic rigging and signaling, rigging inspections, and mechanic/service-truck crane operator evaluations.

Standards matter—but effective training has to connect those standards to the equipment, procedures, and work employees actually encounter in the field.

A lot of ground covered in three days and some great participation from the crews throughout.

A first for Russell Paul Weber — and another great day of training at Safety, Inc. 🇺🇸

Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Russell Weber recently stepped into the instructor role for his first Safety, Inc. class, providing Medic First Aid, CPR & AED training for the Colorado Department of Transportation.

After a career built around service, leadership, and taking care of people, it’s great to see Russell bringing that experience into the classroom and continuing to serve in a new way.

Congratulations on the first one, Russell — many more to come!

Real-world training delivers real-world results.

Recently, our team was in Pinedale, Wyoming, supporting one of our energy clients with hands-on lifting and rigging training using a specialized crawler crane. While every piece of equipment has its own capabilities, the principles behind safe lifting never change—planning, communication, equipment knowledge, and competent operators.

We’re proud to have instructors like Derek Bihr, M.S., CHST, and Russell Weber, USAF Master Sergeant (Ret.), leading these courses. Their combination of advanced education, industry experience, military leadership, and practical field knowledge helps bridge the gap between regulatory requirements and the realities of the job site.

At Safety Inc., we believe the best training happens where people can ask questions, get hands-on experience, and leave with knowledge they can apply the very next day.

Thank you to our client for the opportunity and to everyone who participated.

Throwback to one of Safety Inc.’s more demanding confined space projects.

This multi-day vessel cleanout required far more than a confined space permit. Working in chemical-resistant suits and supplied-air respirators while manually removing accumulated sludge meant heat stress and physical fatigue became some of the biggest hazards on the job.

Carefully planned entrant rotations, continuous atmospheric monitoring, hydration, and administrative controls kept the project moving safely from start to finish.

Not every project is clean, comfortable, or easy—but they’re all worth doing safely.

When it comes to hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), there is no substitute for quality training.

Safety, Inc. recently had the opportunity to deliver H₂S training for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Vernal, Utah, bringing together approximately 50 attendees from a variety of federal agencies and disciplines, including wildland fire, environmental, and land management professionals.

Our H₂S programs are designed to meet or exceed ANSI Z390.1 and applicable API industry standards, providing participants with practical, hands-on knowledge to recognize hazards, understand exposure risks, and make informed decisions in the field.

Training includes the selection and limitations of respiratory protection, helping participants understand when an air-purifying respirator may be appropriate, when an atmosphere requires a supplied-air or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and the importance of recognizing conditions that demand a higher level of respiratory protection.

Beyond the classroom, participants work through group discussions and breakout scenarios that reinforce critical decision-making using real-world resources such as Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), Emergency Response Guidebooks (ERGs), and other industry references. These collaborative exercises help bridge classroom concepts with real-world applications and prepare participants to respond effectively when faced with H₂S hazards.

Whether supporting energy development, public lands, industrial operations, or emergency response, our goal remains the same: deliver training that prepares people to make sound decisions when seconds matter.

Thank you to the Bureau of Land Management and everyone who participated for your engagement and commitment to workplace safety. We appreciate the opportunity to support those who protect and manage our public lands.

😂 We know it’s just a meme…

But what else would you expect from safety professionals?

We couldn’t leave them hanging…
(Well… not without proper fall protection anyway.) 😎

Need fall protection training or a Competent Person course for your team? Give us a call. We’d much rather teach it than investigate why it wasn’t used.
