One of the questions I get asked most about cupping is:
"Do the marks mean you're bruised?"
Not exactly.
The marks left by cupping are caused by suction drawing blood to the surface of the tissue. Unlike a bruise, they're generally not the result of trauma or damaged tissue.
People often use cupping to help address muscle tension, stiffness, and restricted movement. Many clients say they enjoy the decompression effect, especially in areas that feel chronically tight.
The marks can vary from person to person and typically fade over the course of several days.
