Your body responds to rhythm more than you may realize.

Waking and going to bed around the same time, sitting down for a nourishing meal, stepping outside for a few minutes and creating a gentle transition at the end of the day all give the body familiar signals.

These small, repeated moments can help us feel more settled and supported, especially during seasons when life feels busy or our energy is changing.

It doesn’t have to be a perfect routine. It may simply be taking one slow breath before eating, pausing between clients instead of immediately moving to the next thing, or lowering the lights at night to remind your body that the day is coming to an end.

So much of caring for ourselves is not about adding more. Sometimes it is about returning to the simple things our bodies can depend on.

What is one small rhythm that helps you feel more like yourself?

Sunday Night Exhale

I was thinking today about how much easier it can be to care for everyone else than it is to let someone care for us. We’re often the ones checking in, helping, remembering what everyone needs and making sure things get done. Yet when care is offered to us, we sometimes feel guilty accepting it or think we should be doing something instead.

Maybe receiving care is something we have to practice. It doesn’t mean we’re weak, selfish or incapable. It simply means we’re human, and we weren’t meant to carry everything alone. Sometimes care looks like asking for help. Sometimes it’s accepting a kind gesture without trying to repay it. Sometimes it’s allowing yourself to rest without explaining why you need it.

As you prepare for the week ahead, I hope you’ll remember that you’re worthy of the same patience, kindness and care you so freely give to others. You don’t have to earn it, and you don’t have to feel guilty for receiving it.

Before you begin your week, take a slow, deep breath in. Hold it for just a moment. Now slowly exhale and let yourself believe that it’s okay to be cared for, too.

May you enter this week feeling supported, loved and at peace.

With love,
Tina

The abdomen is a sacred place within the body, and for many women, it can also be a place we instinctively protect.

We brace. We tighten. We hold our breath. Sometimes we don’t even realize how much tension we’re carrying there until we’re invited to soften.

I had the privilege of studying directly with Dr. Rosita Arvigo, founder of the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy. Her teachings recognize that abdominal therapy is not simply a massage. It is a whole-body approach that honors the physical, emotional and spiritual connection we have with the center of our bodies.

This gentle, external work supports the NAVEL pathways: nerves, arterial and venous circulation, energy and lymph. It may also encourage easier breathing, soften patterns of tension and help the body move toward greater balance.

I understand that receiving touch on the abdomen can feel vulnerable. You will never be expected to push through discomfort or let go before you are ready. Your comfort and consent guide every part of the session. The work is slow, respectful and unhurried.

When the body feels safe, the breath may deepen, protective guarding may begin to soften and the nervous system can receive the message that it no longer needs to remain on high alert. This creates space for the parasympathetic nervous system, our rest, digest and restorative state, to become more active.

Abdominal therapy does not force the body to release. It listens. It honors. It creates a safe and supportive space for the body to soften in its own time.

This is beautiful work, and I feel deeply honored each time a woman trusts me to care for this sacred part of her body. #

I got this text from a client tonight after letting her know the products we ordered for her had arrived but still waiting for one product.

“Omg I’m so excited! I might not wait to get it. I have been squeezing every drop out of the samples! My skin is so soft and healthy feeling. Caitie even noticed the day after that my skin looked good and she didn’t even know.”

That last part made me smile.

There’s something about someone noticing your skin when they have absolutely no idea you just had a facial or changed anything. No asking, “Does my skin look better?” They just notice.

This is also why I don’t think skincare needs to be complicated. The right facial, the right products for your skin, and a simple routine you’ll actually use can go a long way. Apparently sometimes it means squeezing every last drop out of your samples while you wait for the full sizes to arrive.

Words of the day from a client…

“I don’t know what you do or how you did that, but you took it all away. I don’t know if it’s voodoo or what-doo, but keep doing it.” 😂

She came in today overwhelmed and stressed. She was holding so much tension through her shoulders, neck and jaw. We worked through her upper body and finished with the buccal work she comes in for every month.

When we were done, that was what she said to me.

I laughed, but I also loved hearing it because this is why I do what I do.

So often we don’t realize how much stress we’re carrying in our bodies until we finally have the space to let some of it go. Sometimes you don’t realize how much you needed that release until you feel the difference.

No voodoo involved. 😂 Just intentional touch, nervous system support, facial and buccal massage, and a little space for your body to exhale.

Apparently…a little what-doo too. 😂

Tina
