Sunday Night Exhale

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that being strong meant carrying everything.

The schedules, the responsibilities, the worries, the things that haven’t happened yet, and sometimes even the things that happened years ago.

We carry them through our days without realizing how heavy they have become.

Then Sunday evening arrives, and instead of resting, we begin carrying next week too.

We think about Monday’s appointments, the errands that need to be done, the people we need to check on, and the endless list running through our minds.

But what if tonight wasn’t about preparing for everything?

What if tonight was simply about setting some of it down?

Not forever. Just for now.

The laundry will still be there tomorrow. The emails will still be there tomorrow. The things that need your attention will still be there tomorrow.

Tonight, let your shoulders soften.

Let your jaw relax.

Let yourself sink a little deeper into your chair, your couch, or under a cozy blanket.

Give your nervous system a moment to hear a different message:

You are allowed to rest.

You do not have to carry the entire week tonight.

Take one slow breath in.

And one long breath out.

Tomorrow can wait until tomorrow.

Exhale.

This morning deserves my attention.

Sitting on the deck with my morning coffee, I found myself thinking about how different weekends used to feel.

I remember when the work week ended on Friday and, for the most part, work stayed there until Monday. Businesses closed, offices closed, and unless someone called your house, you were simply unavailable. There was a natural rhythm to life that seems harder to find today.

I miss the slower pace of those years. I miss Sunday mornings when my boys were little, family breakfasts around the table, cartoons playing in the background, and the sound of little feet running through the house. Back then, I couldn’t imagine a day when the house would be quiet.

Now those little boys are grown men. Our routines are different. Life is different.

As I sat here this morning, I realized I wasn’t just missing the Sunday paper or a time before smartphones. I was missing a season of life.

Maybe part of feeling tired and depleted today isn’t simply that we’re busy. Maybe it’s that there is very little true downtime anymore. Work, emails, social media, text messages, and notifications are always within reach. Even when we’re resting, we’re rarely fully at rest.

So after I post this, I’m putting my phone away for a while. The volume will stay on in case someone needs me, but everything else can wait.

If you’re in a season with little ones running through the house, soak it in. The toys on the floor, the endless questions, the busy mornings, and the family breakfasts. One day you’ll look around and realize those little boys and girls have become grown men and women, and the routines you once lived every day have become cherished memories.

Today, I’d rather experience this morning than document it.

Sunday Reminder

Before you focus on everything that needs your attention today, take a moment to check in with yourself.

What is your body asking for?

More rest?
More movement?
More water?
More stillness?
More joy?

Take a slow breath.

Honor what you need.

Exhale.

Sunday Night Exhale

Today I watched a beautiful video created by Chloe after spending a day at the Holistic Health Collective.

Her day included yoga, sauna, IV therapy, massage, acupuncture, a facial ritual, and a visit with a naturopathic doctor.

As I watched, I found myself thinking about how rarely we give ourselves permission to receive.

Many of us spend our days caring for others. We show up for our families, our work, our clients, and our communities. We keep going, often without realizing how much we are carrying.

There was something so beautiful about watching someone intentionally set aside time to slow down. Not because she was broken. Not because she needed fixing. Simply because her wellbeing mattered.

Sometimes restoration looks like a full day devoted to nourishing your mind, body, and spirit.

A yoga class.
A sauna session.
Massage.
Acupuncture.
A facial ritual.
Time to slow down and simply receive.

Sometimes it’s just one of those experiences.

A single hour carved out for yourself.
A moment to pause.
A chance to soften, breathe, and reconnect.

And sometimes restoration looks even simpler.

A quiet cup of tea.
A walk beneath the evening sky.
A few moments of stillness before bed.

Both are valuable.

Both are worthy.

Both are an invitation to exhale.

Tonight, soften your shoulders.

Take a slow breath in.

And exhale.

Let go of what is no longer yours to carry into the week ahead.

Wishing you a peaceful evening and a gentle start to the new week.

Some words stay with you.

A client recently shared this with me, and it touched my heart.

Often, what people need most isn’t another thing to do or fix. Sometimes they simply need a space to soften, breathe, and let go.

Being trusted with that process is something I never take for granted.

I’m deeply grateful for every person who allows me to be part of their journey.
