Itâs really hard but completely normal for your baby to wake frequently (like, every hour) for their first several weeks of life.
If itâs important to you to exclusively breastfeed, accept that waking up to nurse very often⌠is part of the gig.
When you find something that helps soothe or settle your babe, celebrate it⌠because it probably wonât work for too long.
Contacts naps are where itâs at. Youâll miss them one day.
Wearing your baby can be super helpful. But donât fall for the lie that youâre going to get the whole house cleaned while youâre doing it. If you can go to the bathroom or get a good meal in, thatâs a win.
Stop comparing yourself to the âmy baby settled to sleep & slept through the night by three weeksâ people. Good for them, really, but that isnât the norm, and it doesnât mean youâre doing something wrong.
You will, indeed, have to change the way you think about sleep and how it impacts your day. You will be tired, your partner will be tired. Give each other grace.
Finally, hold on to hope: youâll survive. đ
You will learn to live on less sleep. You will find new habits that energize you. You will survive this season⌠even if it lasts for longer than you think it should.
And when you find other parents out there living full lives on just a couple hours a night, be friends.
And drop an energy drink on their doorstep every now and then. đŤśđť
