The pollen landscape is shifting. 🌾

Ragweed pollen concentrations have already seen a 21% increase from 1990 to 2018. As seasons lengthen and intensify, short-term solutions might not be enough. For some patients, changing exposure patterns may require adjustments to immunotherapy (allergy shot or drop) protocols.

Let's discuss if long-term, adaptive strategies are right for you.

$CO_2$ levels are rising, and that's not just a concern for the planetβ€”it’s a direct threat to your respiratory health. πŸ’¨

Modeling studies project that rising $CO_2$ combined with temperature increases could boost pollen emissions by up to 200% by the end of the century! High pollen and air pollutants can further potentiate allergic airway inflammation.

If you have asthma or severe allergies, now is the time to confirm your action plan. βœ…

Start by asking a lot of questions before your child begins school or attends a new school.🚌

Here are TEN tips to prepare for school if your child has food allergies πŸ‘‡

Tick-tock... allergy season is ticking, and it’s starting SOONER than ever. ⏰

Evidence suggests that ragweed pollen seasons are starting earlier compared to the 1990s. To get ahead of symptoms, we advise many patients to start their prophylactic allergy medications before the pollen hits its peak.🌾

Is climate change making your allergies worse? 🌑️

The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI) states that climate change is modifying pollen season duration, pollen quantity, and potentially allergenicity. In our region, delayed fall frosts are a primary driver of a longer, more intense ragweed season.

Stay informed. Talk to your allergist about modifying your strategy.

Ever feel like your fall allergy symptoms keep dragging on? It’s not just you! 🀧

Research shows that ragweed pollen season in our area is now 13-27 days LONGER than it was in the '90s. This means you are exposed to allergens for an extended period, which can increase the burden of allergic rhinitis and asthma.🌬

Be proactive! Schedule an appointment today to discuss how a longer season affects your management plan.

πŸ“’ Awareness is the first step, but Advocacy is the engine for change!

As we wrap up Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month, we remember that this is a health equity issue: Black Americans are three times more likely to die from asthma than white Americans. We must unite for better care, cleaner air, and affordable medication for everyone.

Your voice matters! It only takes 30 seconds to send an email to your lawmakers asking them to support policies that improve lives in your community.
