Posthumus Family Dentistry For over 30 years Posthumus Family Dentistry has served the Grand Rapids area, striving to provide stress free and individualized dental care.

Our dental team works hard to provide patients with excellent individualized care and to make visits to the dentist informative, comfortable and stress free. We participate with Delta Dental, Cigna and will bill most major insurance companies. We are accepting new patients and love referrals.

Did you know that a dental assistant's job has many facets?
They do much more than assisting the dentist chair side. Dental Assistants prepare patients and treatment rooms for exams and procedures. They take X-rays and impressions, sterilize instruments, maintain infection-control protocols, update patient records, and educate patients on post-treatment care. Dental assistants are an essential member of a dental team. We are thankful for Stephanie, our hard working assistant.

Let's talk Wisdom Teeth!
For most, wisdom teeth will start growing in between 17 and 25 years old (sometimes earlier or later). Your dentist, hygienist or orthodontist will most likely notice them on x-ray before you feel them at all! Wisdom teeth, or third molars, once helped our ancestors grind tough, raw foods; now they’re mostly evolutionary leftovers. Oddly, not everyone develops all four and some people never get them. Wisdom teeth can often become impacted, crowd other teeth, or cause infection so dentists typically recommend removal to avoid problems with them in the future.
