"Healthy adults don't choose between thinking and feeling. They integrate them."

Helping men reclaim their emotions is foundational to the work of the Men's Resource Center. But there's more to the story. The Men’s Resource Center teaches men to integrate their emotional life in the way they think, relate, lead, parent, work, and love. Randy defines this overarching concept as relational wisdom.

In the recent Revealing Men podcast, he shares the framework for acquiring this balance of emotion and relational awareness. He invites your participation in the process.

The Men's Resource Center's philosophy helps men integrate their emotional life in the way they think, relate, lead, parent, work, and love.

Men's health is about more than testosterone.

Physical health matters. Hormones matter. But confidence, resilience, emotional intelligence, integrity, and healthy relationships aren't found in a prescription—they're developed.

At the Men's Resource Center, we believe in strengthening the whole man: body, mind, and relationships.

Interesting perspective on the cultural conversation around masculinity:

By measuring manliness by muscle and testosterone levels, the defense secretary is peddling damaging stereotypes and legitimizing a narrow view of masculinity.

Every few months another article appears asking whether men need to become more emotionally expressive with their friends.

I think that’s asking the wrong question.

This recent article in The Atlantic makes an important point about the value of men’s shoulder-to-shoulder friendships—friendships built through fishing, hunting, golfing, coaching, working on projects, or simply spending time together without the expectation of constant emotional disclosure.

Those friendships are real. They matter. They deserve to be celebrated, not pathologized.

But why make it a zero-sum choice?

At the Men’s Resource Center, we don’t believe men have to choose between traditional masculine strengths and emotional intelligence.

We want men to become bilingual.

A man can stand in silence beside a friend while casting a fly into a river all afternoon…

…and later sit around the campfire talking honestly about his marriage, his children, his fears, or the stress he’s carrying.

He can enjoy shoulder-to-shoulder friendship and develop the emotional intelligence and intimacy skills that deepen every relationship in his life.

That’s not abandoning masculinity.

That’s expanding it.

When men develop those capacities, they don’t just become better friends. They become better husbands, fathers, leaders, and partners. They also stop relying on one woman to carry the entire emotional load of their lives.

At MRC, that’s our mission.

We celebrate what has always been good about being a man.

And we cross-train men with the emotional and relational skills they’ll need to flourish in today’s world.

The greatest trap being sold to men today isn’t political—it’s the idea that your life will improve if you can just find someone else to blame.

Men’s real struggles are real: loneliness, confusion, lack of purpose. But grievance isn’t the same as growth.

After 30 years working with men, I’ve learned this: the men who thrive today aren’t clinging to old definitions of masculinity—they’re evolving.

Strength without empathy becomes domination. Confidence without humility becomes arrogance. Freedom without responsibility becomes entitlement.

At the Men’s Resource Center and on Revealing Men, we’re focused on upgrading masculinity—not fighting culture wars, but becoming better men in our relationships, work, and lives.

In recognition of Pride month, the Revealing Men podcast (hosted by Randy Flood) revisits this unbridled conversation between Flood and his friend, Tommy Allen. Allen is an artist and comedian whose journey as a q***r man coming out in the 1980s could also be the story of many men — q***r or not — who grapple with societal expectations around masculinity and their own sense of identity. This conversation asks who gets to define what masculinity looks like and what it means to be a real man.

At the Men’s Resource Center, we help men develop their emotional strength and self-awareness. They don’t have to be someone else’s version of themselves. They can grow into who they truly are.

An unbridled conversation about what it's like to grapple with societal expectations about masculinity and one's own sense of identity.

We have Exciting News!

We're honored to share that Randy Flood and Zach Flood's training, "A New Clinical Paradigm for Men's Mental Health", is now available through PESI, one of the world's leading providers of continuing education for mental health professionals.

For nearly 35 years, our work has focused on helping men better understand themselves, improve their relationships, and develop healthier ways of navigating emotional pain, conflict, and life's challenges.

One of the central ideas behind this training is that many men have been taught how to be strong, independent, and self-sufficient, but have had fewer opportunities to develop the emotional and relational skills needed for deep and meaningful connection.

At the Men's Resource Center, we believe psychological health is not about becoming less masculine—it is about becoming more fully human.

Single fathers are facing significant challenges that often go unseen.

This article highlights a growing concern: many fathers experience profound loneliness, depression, hopelessness, and loss following separation, divorce, and disruptions in their relationships with their children.

At the Men’s Resource Center, we know these struggles are real. Every week, we work with men who are trying to navigate grief, relationship loss, parenting challenges, family court stress, and major life transitions. Seeking support is not a sign of weakness—it is often the first step toward healing, growth, and becoming the father, partner, and man you want to be.

If you or someone you know is struggling, you do not have to face it alone.

Read the article below and know that help is available.

Many young men are receiving powerful messages about optimizing their appearance while receiving far less guidance about developing their identity.

The growing “looksmaxxing” trend reflects more than concerns about appearance. It raises important questions about how boys and young men develop self-worth, purpose, resilience, emotional intelligence, and meaningful relationships.

Recently, Men’s Resource Center Co-Founder and Director Randy Flood was interviewed for an article exploring this phenomenon and its impact on young men. One of the concerns highlighted in the discussion is whether young men are being encouraged to cultivate character and connection with the same intensity that they are encouraged to cultivate image.

At Men’s Resource Center, we believe healthy masculinity is built not merely on how a man looks, but on his capacity for self-awareness, accountability, meaningful relationships, and purpose.

We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation about the well-being of boys and men.

Looksmaxxing turns masculinity into a visual branding system, reducing identity to algorithmically optimized aesthetics rather than character or humanity

The Men’s Resource Center helps men navigate the challenges they face in today’s world, gain emotional intelligence, and embrace life to the fullest. In a recent episode of the Revealing Men podcast, Randy Flood and Ken Porter focus on the interconnectivity of our mind and body. They talk about the importance of being aware of what our body is trying to tell us and how we can better avoid the long-term effects stress and emotional tension can have on our physical, emotional, and relational health.

A conversation on how we can stop stress and emotional tension from impacting our long-term physical, emotional, and relational health.

We’ve been seeing an important pattern in our work with men lately.

Many men are being asked to grow, and that’s a good thing.
Some of the old ways of understanding masculinity needed to change.

But here’s where many men get stuck:

They’re hearing what not to be…
without being shown clearly how to become something better.

“Be less aggressive.”
“Be less controlling.”
“Be less defensive.”

That’s not a roadmap.

For a lot of men, it can feel like the only options are to either shut down…
or push back.

At the Men’s Resource Center, our work is about helping men find a different path.

A path where they can take responsibility for their behavior,
while also developing the emotional strength, self-awareness, and relational skills needed to grow.

Not by losing who they are, but by becoming a stronger, more grounded version of themselves.

When men are given a real path forward,
change becomes possible, not just for them, but for their relationships and families as well.

When decent men feel corrected, accused, confused, or suddenly behind, defensiveness can sound like resistance. Often, it is something messier than that.
