Somewhere around 36 weeks, most of the prep list is done. Nursery painted. Bag packed. Car seat installed (three times).

The one thing that usually gets skipped is preparing the body that’s actually going to do the work.

The third trimester is when the aches show up — SI joint pain, sciatica, swelling, heartburn, sleep that won’t come — and when your options for treating them narrow considerably. Acupuncture is safe, drug-free, and effective for all of it.

Then at 36 weeks we shift into the prebirth series: weekly sessions designed to help your body arrive at labor rested, responsive, and ready. Research has linked prebirth acupuncture to shorter first-stage labor, less need for pain medication, and lower rates of medical induction. Patients tell us the biggest thing is that they sleep better and feel less braced.

And if your due date comes and goes, we can increase frequency to support your body’s own timing.

Booking now for third-trimester patients — and if you’re not sure whether it’s the right fit, we offer a free phone consult. Call (616) 227-0707. 🌿

You’re not just “prone to getting sick.” That’s not a personality trait — it’s a pattern. And in Chinese medicine, patterns have root causes.
Every time your kids bring home a cold and you’re the only one flattened by it, your body is telling you something. Your Wei Qi — your defensive energy, the barrier between you and every pathogen trying to get in — is depleted.
This isn’t fixed by loading up on Vitamin C after your throat starts scratching. That’s damage control. We’re talking about rebuilding the foundation so the cold never lands in the first place.
Gui Zhi and Bai Shao work together to warm and stabilize your body’s surface. Huang Qi builds defensive energy from the inside out. Yu Ping Feng San — the Jade Windscreen Formula — has been closing that door for centuries.
Chinese medicine isn’t reactive. It’s asking why your door keeps blowing open — and fixing the hinges.
If you’re always the sick one in the house, DM me. Let’s find your pattern and build a body that actually knows how to defend itself.

Getting diagnosed with fibromyalgia is the medical equivalent of a mechanic saying “your car just hurts” — here’s some Advil, good luck.
It’s not a diagnosis. It’s a dead end.
There’s no biomarker. No scan. No test. Just a checklist of misery, a Latin-sounding name, and a prescription that treats the complaint — not the cause.
What looks like one condition to Western medicine is actually several distinct patterns — each with its own cause, and its own path forward.
Liver Qi Stagnation — pain that moves around, worsens with stress, tightness in the neck and shoulders, irritability. Start here: prioritize nervous system regulation. Walks, breathwork, less screen time at night, acupuncture to move what’s stuck.
Spleen Qi Deficiency — crushing fatigue, brain fog, heavy limbs, poor digestion. Start here: warm cooked foods over raw and cold, reduce sugar, protect your sleep window, don’t push through exhaustion — it depletes you further.
Kidney Deficiency — bone-deep exhaustion, low back pain, cold hands and feet, feeling burnt out at your core. Start here: this one needs deep restoration. Less output, more input. Early sleep, mineral-rich foods, stress reduction is non-negotiable.
Blood Stasis — fixed stabbing pain, worse at night, a body that feels stuck and stagnant. Start here: gentle movement is medicine. Walking, stretching, heat therapy. The goal is circulation — not intensity.
Dampness Obstruction — heavy achy joints, foggy head, bloating, pain that worsens in wet or cold weather. Start here: remove damp-forming foods — dairy, sugar, alcohol, greasy food. Dry heat, movement, and acupuncture are your allies.
You don’t have to white-knuckle a diagnosis that was never really an answer.
If you’re ready to understand your actual pattern and build a real path forward — DM me

If you’ve always been the flexible one — and you’re also always the injured one — this is for you.
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and hypermobility are massively underdiagnosed, and most people managing it have never been told that their flexibility is part of the problem.
This is the protocol I use on myself and with my patients. Save this post so you have it. Follow for more on treating your body from the root, not just the symptoms.

Nobody talks about how your hormones are literally built from the fats you eat — and if you’re eating seed oils, you’re not just fueling inflammation, you’re sabotaging your hormones at the source.
Your body uses cholesterol and fatty acids as raw materials to produce testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, and other critical hormones. So when the majority of your fat intake comes from canola, soybean, sunflower, and corn oil — you’re giving your body damaged, unstable building blocks that oxidize easily, create free radicals, and drive chronic inflammation.
The worst part? Seed oils are in almost everything. Your salad dressing. Your protein bars. Restaurant food. Bread. Sauces. Even foods marketed as “healthy.” You’re consuming them at nearly every meal and you don’t even know it.
And it doesn’t take much. Even small amounts accumulate in your tissues and cell membranes over time, triggering oxidative stress, promoting chronic inflammation, and disrupting the very pathways your body depends on to produce hormones. It’s like trying to build a house with rotting wood.
Start replacing seed oils with grass-fed butter, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, pastured eggs, and wild-caught fish. Read your labels. Your hormones will thank you.

your lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump like your heart — it depends entirely on YOU to keep it moving 🫀
here are 15 signs it’s backed up and asking for help 👆
from a functional + Chinese medicine perspective, here’s what’s actually going on and what you can do about it:
from a TCM lens 🌿
lymph stagnation often shows up as Qi and fluid stagnation — your body’s ability to transform and transport fluids has broken down. this is closely tied to Spleen Qi deficiency, which is the root of dampness and phlegm accumulation in the body
from a functional lens 🔬
a sluggish lymphatic system means your body is struggling to clear inflammatory byproducts, hormonal waste, and cellular debris — this shows up as the symptoms you just saw 👆
and here’s something most people miss 👇
your lymphatic system NEEDS minerals and electrolytes to function — sodium, potassium, and magnesium regulate fluid balance at the cellular level. without adequate minerals, your cells can’t properly push waste into the lymphatic vessels. this is why chronically under-eating, low-carb dieting, or avoiding salt can quietly wreck your lymphatic flow over time
what you can do:
— dry brushing daily (always brush toward the heart)
— lymphatic massage or gua sha on the neck + body
— castor oil packs over the liver
— movement — even walking stimulates lymph flow
— in TCM: Chen Pi, Yi Yi Ren, and Fu Ling to resolve dampness and support Spleen Qi
— stay hydrated with warm or room temp water (cold water slows lymph)
— add quality minerals — trace mineral drops, electrolytes, or mineral-rich foods like leafy greens, pumpkin seeds, and coconut water
— reduce processed foods and dairy which create dampness
your lymphatic system is your body’s drainage system — when it’s backed up, everything suffers 🙏🏼
💾 save this, and if this resonated like + follow for more TCM and functional health education every week

Celery juice first thing in the morning.
A protein bar when they’re rushing out the door.
A salad for lunch — maybe with some grilled chicken if they remembered to meal prep.
Another protein bar at 3pm because they’re crashing.
A light dinner because they don’t want to overdo it.
And they genuinely cannot understand why they’re exhausted, anxious, losing hair, freezing cold, and their period is a disaster.
I can.
In Chinese medicine, your digestive system is the foundation of everything. It is responsible for transforming the food you eat into blood, energy, and hormones. Every cycle, every strand of hair, every ounce of warmth and vitality in your body starts there.
And your digestion has two enemies above all else — cold raw foods and not enough food.
Celery juice on an empty stomach? Cold and raw. Salads every day? Cold and raw. Barely enough calories to fuel your morning? Your digestion is working overtime and getting nothing in return.
When your digestive system is depleted long enough, your blood becomes deficient. And that looks exactly like what you just described — fatigue, hair loss, anxiety, cold hands and feet, a cycle that’s light or late or just plain miserable.
You haven’t been eating unhealthily. You’ve been eating restriction dressed up in wellness clothing. And your body has been quietly running on empty trying to keep up.
Warm foods. Cooked vegetables. Enough protein, enough fat, enough starch. Three real meals.
That is Chinese medicine nutrition. And it will change everything.
If this sounds like you — like or save this post and follow for more on what your body has actually been asking for all along.

You can be constipated and still go every day — and most people have no idea. 💩
Not all constipation looks the same. Here are two of the most common patterns:
🐰 DRY CONSTIPATION — Yin Deficiency
Hard, pellet-like stools, straining, thirst, dry skin. Your intestines need moisture.
Try: H**p seed (Huo Ma Ren), flaxseed oil, pears, figs, soaked oats, warm water first thing in the morning. Avoid coffee, alcohol & dry/crunchy foods.
💩 WET/STUCK CONSTIPATION — Qi Stagnation & Dampness
Soft but sticky, incomplete, heavy, bloated. Your gut has no momentum.
Try: Ginger, lemon water in the morning, cooked veggies, barley & aduki beans. Avoid raw foods, dairy, sugar & cold drinks.
Here’s the thing though — these are just TWO patterns. Chinese Medicine recognizes several more, and treating the wrong pattern can make things worse. A licensed herbalist will look at your whole picture — your tongue, pulse, digestion, energy, and more — to find the real root cause.
Your daily bowel movement should feel complete. If it doesn’t, your body is telling you something. 👂

If one egg for breakfast and skipping lunch is your norm — we need to talk. 🔽
Exhausted. Achy. Foggy. Belly fat from nowhere.
This is what undereating does to your body. And menopause will make it so much louder.
Your hormones are literally built from what you eat. Estrogen. Progesterone. Testosterone. All manufactured from fat and cholesterol — the very things diet culture told us to avoid.
This is the talk nobody gave us. Swipe for all of it.
Then take the challenge — download MyFitnessPal, track your food for one week, and drop your protein number in the comments. 👇 I want to know where you’re starting from.
Your future self will thank you for today.
