NAMI Walks is an important event raising awareness of how all of us play an important role in helping people get connected to help. It’s a beautiful day for the walk. As we finish off September and Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, it's important to remember that September is only one month, but su***de prevention is something that needs to be done all year. People don't only struggle this one month.

Everyone can play a role in prevention. Small acts of connection, such as a check-in, a shared resource, a moment of genuine attention, are how communities take care of each other. You never know who is struggling, and someone reaching out can make all the difference. So remember to check on your people!

Yesterday, Network180 and Trinity Health Grand Rapids gathered with business and civic leaders to share results of the Behavioral Health Crisis Center's two years of operation in Kent County. Network180 and Trinity Health Grand Rapids created a unique public-private partnership to make the BHCC a reality and opened its doors on May 8, 2024.

We were honored to be joined by U.S. Rep. Hillary Scholten, Amy Epkey, Acting Director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and Al Vanderberg, County Administrator for Kent County, Michigan to help mark the occasion.

Data shared was collected between May 2024 to June 2026:
*The BHCC provided 8,980 brief interventions, and 4,059 people were admitted to the crisis stabilization unit.

*Law enforcement officers brought 819 people to the CSU rather than taking them to an emergency department or jail. The average drop-off took five minutes.

*There were 520 fewer behavioral health-related emergency department visits between the two main emergency departments in downtown Grand Rapids.

The BHCC is located at 260 Jefferson Ave. SE on the Trinity Health Campus in downtown Grand Rapids. Adults (18+) can walk in 24 hours a day, seven days a week, regardless of insurance or ability to pay.

Network180 is set up and ready for the afternoon at the Eastown Streetfair! There was a bit of a delay due to the weather but the Eastown Streetfair will take place from 2p-9p today - bands, food, arts, and yes, important organizations that help support the health and wellbeing of our community 🎶🎉🌮🌯🎨🖌️💖.

It's important for a community to have places where people feel safe reaching out for help. Network180 wants to help everyone know where to turn before they need it.

Network180 has the Behavioral Health Crisis Center and the Mobile Crisis Response Team are available 24/7 to anyone in Kent County.

Getting care early, before a crisis escalates, is one of the most powerful things health care can do for someone who is struggling. Network180 has a wide variety of non-crisis services as well, such as outpatient therapy.
