Back to Lunch & Learn! 🙌

The Ada Business Association takes a break from these events over the summer, so it felt especially good to be back today, learning, connecting, and meeting some really interesting people.

Our keynote speaker, Michael Elzinga of Ideology, shared the stories of Amway founders Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel while exploring something much bigger: the power of story.

The stories we tell matter in business. They matter in our personal lives. And they matter in the communities we build.

As someone who started a business based on a pretty unexpected chapter in my own story, this one definitely gave me a lot to think about.

Great presentation, great conversations, and a great reminder of why I love being connected to the local business community. 💛

Did you know that in addition to nervous system regulation in the Harmonic Eggs, we also have a mini art gallery? We have 20 local artists selling art inside our beautiful space. Wall art, stationary, jewelry, scarves, wooden table art, candles, vases, and more! This is our newest addition by artist Jennifer Burgnon. She uses alcohol ink on canvas. This is my favorite piece yet!

Anyone else ever sit down because you’re exhausted… & then spend an hour scrolling? 📲🙄
We tend to think of scrolling as downtime because our bodies aren’t doing much. Meanwhile, our brains are still taking in headline after headline, video after video, notification after notification.
🥚That’s one reason why I love giving people a genuinely different kind of break inside the Harmonic Egg. For 50 minutes there’s nothing to answer, nothing to accomplish, and nothing to scroll.

Something fascinating is happening right here in Grand Rapids.
Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital is using high-intensity focused ultrasound, a technology that uses precisely targeted sound waves for certain patients with essential tremor and tremor-dominant Parkinson’s disease
As someone who works with sound every day, this immediately caught my attention.
Important distinction: focused ultrasound and the Harmonic Egg are COMPLETELY different technologies, with different intensities, mechanisms and purposes. I am not comparing the Harmonic Egg to a medical treatment.
What I love is the bigger conversation this opens up.
Sound is physical energy.
Frequency is measurable.
And the ways sound and music interact with the human body and brain are fascinating.
So I’m going down a rabbit hole. There’s so much interesting science behind sound, frequency, resonance, acoustics, music and the nervous system. I want to bring more of those conversations here.
Because sound isn’t mystical. It’s physics.
