🦎🐍🕷️ Camp Week got a little WILD on Peds! 🕷️🐍🦎

It’s time for the Mary-est Moment of the Week! Mary Free Bed Kids teacher liaison Giulia had a special surprise in store for the kids during Camp Week! She brought the wildlife classroom right to the Kids Inpatient floor! 🌿

Thanks to a visit from John Ball Zoo, our kids and team members got to meet some pretty amazing critters, including a gecko, a snake and even a tarantula! Everyone had the chance to learn more about these fascinating reptiles while getting up close and personal with some unexpected classroom visitors.

It’s safe to say there’s never a dull moment on the Mary Free Bed Kids Inpatient floor! 💚

A brain tumor. Bacterial meningitis. A stroke.

What Farmington Hills residents Drew and Candace call a "perfect storm" changed their lives forever.

After multiple brain surgeries, Drew arrived at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids unable to sit up in bed on his own. Two months later, he walked out the front door.

Watch as Drew and Candace share their journey through adversity, rehabilitation and recovery, and the hope that carried them forward.

Their message: Never give up hope.

🎉 Our Newest Mary Free Bed Alumni: Kolly New! 🎉

It’s time for the Mary-est Moment of the Week! 💚 Mr. Kolly graduated from the Mary Free Bed Adult Inpatient Stroke Program after spending a month at Mary Free Bed. He certainly left a lasting impression on our team members!

Throughout his stay, Kolly brought a positive attitude, a great sense of joy and a smile that lit up every room!

And who was right there cheering him on every step of the way? His biggest supporter, his wife, Nancy. ❤️ She was always in his corner, caring for him, encouraging him and celebrating every victory along the way.

Before heading home to Marcellus, Michigan, Kolly took one final victory lap through Mary Free Bed! 🏆

Congratulations, Mr. Kolly! We’re so happy to officially call you a Mary Free Bed alumni! 🎓💚

At a recent golf fundraiser near Grand Rapids, local nonprofit Brave the Shave awarded checks to two of their partners for helping provide support for child patients: Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.

We slid into fun at the Adaptive Curling Clinic! 🥌❄️

Mary Free Bed Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports hosted its first-ever adaptive curling clinic, and we got swept up in the game! A huge thank you to the Grand Rapids Curling Club for helping make it happen.

Participants of all ages and abilities took to the ice to learn the ins and outs of curling. They tried out different adaptations and enjoyed a little friendly competition! 👏

We’re so grateful for everyone who came out and got their sweep on! You made the day such a success.

Same place, same time next year? We’re already practicing our form! 👀🥌
